NOTES
Sidney Crosby is back in the lineup. Just in time for a rematch with Brett McLean?
Sergei Gonchar is out, although it's thankfully not for an injury. He and his wife are expecting an addition to their family. In turn, Alex Goligoski gets the call.
Steve Eminger plays his first game with the Panthers, while Bill Guerin and Craig Adams will start their Pittsburgh careers tonight.
We'll likely see Thomas Vokoun between the pipes for Florida.
Marc-Andre Fleury the starter for Pitt.

I remember last time I watched the Florida feed – it’s like their cameras are zoomed too far in.

No reason to be. The game is definitely moving along smoothly. Chances on both sides

0-0. Can’t say great things so far about the Guerin-Crosby-Kunitz line but I also can’t say I’ve seen it enough. Pitt going on the PP now so we should see what works…hopefully

Hey how many times do you think we’ll hear about Tobacco free Florida week? I’m putting the over/under at 250 and taking the over

Beats the heck out of Toyota and Checkers ads

Yes, from Checkers…funny stuff…it’s on YouTube
by Donny Rivette on Mar 5, 2009 8:11 PM EST up reply actions
haha yup. He spun around in the defensive zone and actually put a shot on our own net. Luckily he can’t score there either
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Wow – the Panthers are controlling this game right now imho
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
The Panthers may have been outshot, but i really think they had the better chances. I think I heard two go off the post and another off the side of the cage
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Not gonna lie. Those skeletons in the crowd are pretty morbid.

I thought they were original season ticket holders still waiting for a Cup.

Either that or Mark Recchi and Gary Roberts taking in a game together.

So I see my inside guy is not that inside… wanker, Calgary is cashing in, 4-0 after the first… not sure what it is now, but man..
Thanks Frank.
For the record…we don’t miss him on the ice. In the community? Great dude. As a leader…not so much.

I’ve now seen a Capitals, Rangers, Penguins and Panthers jersey in the crowd

The Pens are wildly passing back to the point. It’s kinda annoying me

I FOUND A GOOD FEED!!!
Sorry if this is already mentioned in the comments, I’m not going to go back and read 70 of them
Nope, good call. Everyone is looking for one. Thanks for chipping in

Need yourself some Denis Potvin goodness
by Donny Rivette on Mar 5, 2009 8:32 PM EST up reply actions
Staal. He fights to get the puck away and then passes right on the tape of a Panther. Seriously, did Shero trade him to the Panthers and not mention it?
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Oh I love hearing the Florida announcers and their obvious devotion to spinning things in Florida’s way
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
How do I respond to that? You’ve gotta know Potvin…that’s his schtick.
by Donny Rivette on Mar 5, 2009 8:36 PM EST up reply actions
Especially down here. Thanks, korn.
But is it really any different in the 29 other cities?
by Donny Rivette on Mar 5, 2009 8:38 PM EST up reply actions
Definitely not for the Rangers. I can’t stand those broadcasts
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
what’s wrong with the announcers talking up their home team?? It does happen everywhere. Sometimes the guys sound obnoxious or arrogant but it’s all to get the fans at home into it. I personally can’t stand Jeanneret from Buffalo cause of his voice and we all know how many times ppl have commented on Steigy and others.
Everyone knows Crosby slipped on the faceoff into MacLean. Maclean, enraged by the unjustified bump, went to throw his hands up in the air but consequently lost his gloves. In turn, Crosby thought MacLean was picking a fight and took the preemptive strike. As far as I"m concerned, Sid just saw the fight happening three steps before MacLean did.

Exactly. He’s already wiping when he sits down on the can.

May I quote you on this? Pretty please? Awesome!

I’ll be the TSN insider for Crosby Vision. It’s my job to discuss what will happen not next, or right after that, but three steps away. It might be a hard job, but if Eklund can make up rumors and still occasionally get one right then I can do it.

The USS Gill? Hadn’t heard his name in a while

No kiddin. I guess that’s what you can expect after a 6-1 game
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
This game is amazingly fast paced. It looks like they’re running sprints, they’re rushes are so back and forth!
None of us diehards are acclimated to this “competitive” thing. We’re all in a tizzy.

I would’ve thought check in the back…but not charging. Maybe since it wasn’t against the boards…?
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Fleury giving up way too many rebounds. And it’s obvious this PP is hurting without GOnchar
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
How did this game go so long without a goal and then two in a row in the span of what – 15 seconds?
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
well….i have to say that if one other team has to make the playoffs between BUF, CAR and FLA, I’d want the spot to go to FLA. The whole "playoffs or 4 free games " thing i think it’s called is great for the fans. They are playing really well and deserve a spot in the post-season again. Besides, u don’t have Jokinen anymore so i’m not too scared if we end up facing each other in the playoffs
Sid got a new hat. That’s nice. The other one had permanent sweat stains

actually, i’m not so sure it’s sweat. I saw that same hat at the store last week and it looks just like that one
i’m just saying that the hat i saw was ratty and looked really old but it was a brand new hat for like $36.00
ugh, $36. I’d never pay more than $20 for a hat, and no more than $10 for one thta looks like that
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
remember……Canadian funds here buddy. I paid 36 bucks for the one on the left side of my shrine the day i was there. I tell you it’s not much cheaper here.
you do find some deals here though. I found that white Team Canada Mario jersey in a convenience store here for $159.99 plus tax…….the lady at the store had no idea what the heck she was doing when it came to pricing them cause she said that 8 of the 10 jerseys she gad there were the same price as my Mario one but the Mats Sundin and Kyle Wellwood jerseys she had there she was charging $199.99 for. I couldn’t pass the opportunity up to get mine knowing she priced them wrong. Team Canada Mario jersey from the 02 Olympics when we won Gold against the U.S. for 160 ain’t a bad deal at all if you ask me.
I’m a hat enthusiast, so I have my Lids Passport card to not pay above $30.
Yes, hat enthusiasts exist.
Why do I have a Quebec Remparts hat? Because I wanted it. That’s why.

This thread certainly went the distance. Who am I kidding: all of my minions are at the game. Got nuthin’.
by Donny Rivette on Mar 5, 2009 9:17 PM EST up reply actions
thats where i got my hat….Lids…and they offered me that discount card. A guy workin there also tried to tell me that the Leafs just traded Kaberle, Stajan and Antro to Pitts for Staal and Whitney. I bet you can guess how i reacted.
Flyers getting killed. Capitals not winning…again. Lovely night

Theodore won’t take them past the first round. I don’t care who they have on offense
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Of course I didn’t see the goal because the camera insisted on being in the corner
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Still early though. At the rate of this game I"m still on the edge of my seat

Just got done watching the Bruins drop a home game to the Coyotes. I’m starting to believe the Penguins and Bruins have some sort of “Portrait of Dorian Gray” thing going on. When one is playing well, the other plays awful hockey, and the opposite is also true.
P is for Latrobe.
It’s interesting to think the Bruins may actually back into the playoffs
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
It was a pick that works for them and definitely for him, but i have to agree – he won’t exactly put the team on his shoulders
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Yeah. Even the one goal he did give up was “garbage” defined
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Sure looks like it. He’s been unbelievable these past few

girl, victoria. I hope, for the poor mother’s sake, that she doesn’t have daddy’s melon head. Ouuuucchh.
We are Frankensteining the world’s ugliest baby right now…

Haha when you put it that way I can’t help but think of the sound of removing a cork from a bottle of wine.
“Okayz. I has to go play hockeys now.”
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
does anyone know if Malone accumulated any more broken noses during his time in TB?? Last i heard when he was with us is that he had around 9 and counting but many to go to catch his dads total in his career…..somethin like 18 or 19 i think.
No clue. I know he only missed two or three games this year with injury, but then again he played with a broken nose. So I can’t say for sure
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
He had no problem smelling the net there (crickets..crickets…)
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Nice seeing Orpik had two assists before going off the ice
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
Yeah well they beat the Islanders. That’s like saying you beat a blind guy in NHL 09 for XBox
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
I definitely like this outcome more. I punch less things and they win more games.
Follow the Penguins on SBN @ Pensburgh.com
They have him out there on the PP. They want him to get it too
