Game One preview : Flyers/Penguins
If you really think about it there's not much more previewing that we can do. Everything that has to be said has been said already. A preview at this point would just be reiterating a week's worth of content. So instead, let's talk about some lineup "issues."
Apparently there was a bit of a scare during the morning skate when Petr Sykora left the ice in obvious pain. Whatever the issue was he still managed to return a few minutes later to a mock applause from his teammates.
Chris Kunitz was a no-show at the morning skate. His wife is expected to go into labor soon but he is still expected to start. I can't help but think he'll have a hell of a game tonight if his wife gives birth and he takes to the ice.
Still no word on the Pens' site or in the papers yet as to whether or not Dan Bylsma will take Eric Godard or Craig Adams tonight. Hopefully we'll have more on that later.
On a more humorous note, Sam Kasan reported on the Penguins' site today that the fire alarm at Mellon Arena went off during the skate. Make what you want of it, but I relate it to that Consol Energy alarm before the start of every game. I take that as a good sign - It's game time.
Although, I think people should look into whether or not the Flyers were in town yet. I hear Danny Briere likes to cause trouble...
Open thread tonight at 7pm. Be there!

If the Kunitz family is expecting a boy...
they shall name him Stanley. I can’t vouch for the accuracy, but that’s what I’d do given the timing ;)
PensBurgh penalty - Lavender - 2 minutes for hijynxing.

This might be a good omen for Kunitz. Last year Martin Biron’s wife went into labor shortly after Game 2 of the Flyers – Capitals series. We all know how that turned out. (You’re welcome, by the way.)
Looking forward to the game tonight, the non-cursing trash talk on both boards, and the series as a whole. I’ll be at Game 4, and I’ll be one of the Flyers fans who is NOT throwing anything at you. We’re not all like that, trust me.
May the best team win!
Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps?
Back in the 90s when Lemieux’s wife gave birth to their son Austin (he was born prematurely, only two pounds) he went out later that night and scored 5 goals. So yeah – here’s to hoping it’s a good omen. :-)

Didn’t the people of Pittsburgh carve a backwards B into their face and claim to be attacked by Obama supporters?
Swing by The Flyer Frequent. You have nothing better to do.

That was one person and a very insane one at that. Philly fans acted as a collective group. I really don’t know which is worse, but I’d have to say a bunch of insane people in a large group trumps one insane chick who felt like making ‘B’ the letter of the day.
