Game Two preview: Flyers/Penguins
By now you're probably heard that Daniel Carcillo will be sitting this one out for the Flyers after the NHL suspended him for a cheap hit on Max Talbot during the final seconds of Wednesday's game. Apparently other roster issues may take a toll on Philly as well, as defenseman Kimmo Timonen missed practice yesterday and remains questionable for action tonight. You may remember Timonen went down early on his first shift in the first game of the series and looked to be hobbling around for the remainder of the game. From a Pittsburgh perspective it worked to the team's advantage.
Travis from BSH reports that Randy Jones also missed practice. Additionally there's a chance we may see regularly scratched defenseman Luca Sbisa take a spot on the blue line. I'll try and get something definitive by this afternoon.
Nothing to really repot from the Pitt camp, although as usual you can expect us to stay on top of things throughout the day. Personally I don't think it's up to Pitt to make the adjustments at this point. They came out the better team after Game One and now it's up to Philly to adjust to their play. If anything it's all about consistency now and maintaining the intensity from Game One.

Goes without saying,
If there can’t be sparks late in the game, which there were in Game 1, I think we should be in for one of the chippiest first periods of the season. I think, for the Flyers, it’s a necessity to enforce some kind of physicality early and often. Otherwise I just don’t see anything from the first game changing.
So I’m calling it right now, the first period might be a JDunman special.
PensBurgh penalty - Lavender - 2 minutes for hijynxing.
i don't know
The flip side of that is that the league will probably have the refs calling the game tightly to keep any of the game 1 nonsense from happening. And Philly cannot afford to take lots of penalties early in the game. I think they’ll play physical, but they’ll have to keep it clean.

That may be, but I think someone’s going to answer the bell for the antics of the last minute of Game 1. The Flyers are the Flyers,so they’ll have enough penalties to stimulate the economy with them. Why not up the hitting early?
Unless they really just are sore losers. Haven’t watched enough of their games to know.

To echo HP’s comment once more, I really think the refs will run a tight game tonight. We may even see some penalties dished out for scrums after the play. As you may or may not know, Gary Bettman was in attendance for Wednesday’s game. Could they have possibly chosen a better time to set an example?

Well I was just making sure that the caption was more accurate, that’s all.

Jones is playing, Timonen is “fine” according to the team.
Sbisa is on the fourth line, Powe takes Carcillo’s spot on the third.
