they should make game 1 a 7pm est start and game 2 an 8pm eastern start in the event of an ot. i heard a really good commentary on this today on the way to work on espn radio. its shows a sad state of the league when the only way to get airtime is to play back to backers in the finals. no finals should ever have back to back. its weeetawwwded but not suprising since beavis is running the show

I’m not a fan of the quick Game 1 and 2. Sure Detroit may not like that much either.

Could fall into our advantage playing a battered team that quick on the road, and then back to Mellon.

agreed. it sucks, but they have significant enough injuries that it will probably benefit us. lets go pens.

12 down, 4 to go. Let's go Pens!

No one should like that...

….because it is the entire league and the sport of hockey that is being manhandled by none other than Conan O’Brien’s debut. Either way, it’ll be a good series.

I think the fact that they’ll be playing back-to-back games is a pretty significant advantage for the Pens. Enough so that I might call it unfair if I were a Wings fan. The Pens by a good margin are the hotter team, having swept the formerly formidable Hurricanes by outscoring them 20-9 in four games and the Wings needing 5 and an OT to handle the ‘Hawks. I didn’t watch game 5, but from reading news articles it sounded like Huet played well enough to win it. The quick turnaround is always a benefit to a hot team. Aside from that there is the point that has already been pounded home, that the Wings are nursing some injuries. These injuries, it should be noted, are to some of their biggest names. Draper, Datsyuk, Eriksson. I don’t imagine they’ll sit for the finals, but at the same time if they were injured enough to be sitting out for 2 or 3 games against the Blackhawks, they will not be 100% by Saturday Night. The final and not the smallest advantage for the Pens in playing games 1 and 2 back-to-back is that it gets them home sooner. You want to get those road games done quick, get home and feed off your home crowd.

a couple outcomes

The back to back games could have a couple of outcomes:

1) Whomever loses both will be flabbergasted at the quickness of being down 2-0 in the SCF
or
2) It will be 1-1 going back to Pitt

Either way, I believe the pens have the advantage because the would be in the same position as last year after 2 games to the wings in the final, just had more time to pine on the losses. Not to mention they came back from 2-0 in the 2nd round against the caps. So, the young guys should be able to handle any situation after game 2.

My best friend

My best friend is from Michigan..huge Red Wings fan…and yes he’s crying foul about the back-to-backers for game 1 and 2 saying Bettman and NBC are in on a DRW conspiracy….dear lord help me!!! GO PENS!!!(Sorry Pal)

Crying foul?

Don’t paint that as a general Red Wings fan sentiment. Both teams have to deal with the schedule. None of the players will make excuses, on either team. Wings fans aren’t scared of the Pens. Pens fans aren’t scared of the Wings. It is going to be great hockey. The needless drama needs to stay out of it.

The best team WILL win….whoever that may be. HERE’S TO A GREAT SERIES…and GREAT hockey, just like last year….perhaps even better.

Go Wings Go.

Well said. Back to back hardly favors either team. They’re both going to have to put a supreme effort into Game 2, but what else would you expect in the Finals regardless?

I'm scared of the Wings.

But then, I’m not your typical Pens fan. Confidence does not come easily to me (comes from being a Cubs fan for 20+ years.)

Before each game, please remember to feed the bats.

There is a Pitt bar

Somewhere on the main highway that runs up and down the Myrtle Beach area, on the beach side of the road up near Bearfoot Landing and House of Blues area I think.
