Crosby post-game thoughts
"When it comes down to it they got a big goal there on the power play when it counted, and that's the difference. I don't see anything else but that. We had opportunities, I mean, the last two games we can honestly say we did some really good things but we made a few mistakes that have hurt us. That can be a good thing to look at as well, knowing that we're that close and these are things that we can easily and change quickly. But we have to do that."
DC Sports Bog (who noted that Crosby "complained" about hats being thrown on the ice after they cleaned up the initial wave after Alex Ovechkin's hat trick...Can't diss Crosby, there was a significant delay in the game and obviously he wanted to get back out on the ice and answer)

Not any more than would be expected from any opposing team’s captain under the circumstances if the throwing of hats on the ice by the fans some time after the hat trick had occured were causing a delay in the game.
It sounds to me like whoever is writing the ‘DC Sports Bog’ is catering to his readership by picking at whatever Crosby does and turning it into ‘evidence’ that ‘supports’ the negative stereotypes that exist concerning Crosby. Which technically is editorializing, not reporting, but whatever.
Can't blame Crosby
Since the 1920’s, hats have been thrown on the ice after a player scores three goals, it would obviously take some time to clean up these considering the substantial amount thrown on the ice…. In fact, it would probably effect the Caps more then the Pens as well, I know if I was on Washington I would want to get right back out there and use this momentum. It’s really just Crosby whining for the sake of whining…. I especially love when he said this: So wasn’t complaining about anything." HAHAHA, ok Sid. I’m not glad to see Crosby up to his old act, not a surprise though.

Throwing hats is one thing...
but once the initial rush of hats being thrown is done…and they have already pretty much cleaned up the ice… then people start throwing more hats.. that’s annoying.
i love sid and i really don’t feel like he whines as much, but even the hardcore fan that i am is embarrassed about this.
but thanks for being the only player to show up!
Don't be too harsh...
Fleury had a hell of a game as well… if he’s not as sharp, the Caps could have score 6 or 7 goals.
Let's go Caps!

i just don’t understand what talking to the refs would do in that situation. he said he wanted them to make an announcement. yeah they’re going to announce to 20,000 screaming fans to stop celebrating a hat trick. why does he say these things? does he really think that something is going to be done.
He’s young and probably at that point was dying to try and comeback in the game. Pretty funny thing to bug the ref about though.

It was gamemanship
He was trying to buy a penalty. Nothing wrong with that, would you rather have him ask the refs, or take a dive like Ovaries did at center ice?
If you ask me I hate dives more than I hate whining to the refs, after all Crosby is the captain it is his job to speak with the refs.

WE ARE.......PENN STATE!
I get a kick out out of how many people complain about Crosby complaining… what is the word i’m looking for to describe that?
LEADER...or...
….PASSION….WILL….VICTORY…
those are the words you can use to describe CROSBY…
WE ARE.......PENN STATE!
I am willing to bet this is the first time a captain has complained about fans throwing hats on the ice to celebrate a hat trick. C’mon. Call a spade a spade…
The thing is, Sid forgot that most of the people in the stands at last nights game were watching their first ever hockey game. It took some of them a little longer to figure out the whole hat thing which delayed the whole process. Had Sid known that so few people in D.C. knew what hockey was before last years playoffs he probably would have cut them some slack.
yeah, but it feeds into the Pittsburgh group-think that they’re the world’s greatest fans and have lived and died with every shaving of Igloo ice since the team’s inception,, while the Caps fans have just discovered hockey ala Nashville or Carolina. I lived in Pittsburgh for 8 years, and loved the city (previously, I lived in Washington and attended many a Caps game at a cavernous Capital Centre. For about three of my years in Pittsburgh, I could walk into the Civic Arena during a ‘Guins game, and tell the ushers, once I awakened them up, where I wanted to sit. Why was this? Ownership, finances, and fate had conspired to make the team suck. The same happened to the Caps during the early 2000’s. There were plenty of fans, but nobody willing to shell $75 to watch Joel Kwiatkowski lead the up-ice rush.
Not so much here (thanks SBN), but other national and Pittsburgh sites constantly mock the Caps fanbase. It’s silly, but most importantly, I think it’s wrong. As with any team, put a team worth cheering for on the ice, and they will come.

It’s a bit disheartening to see Sid constantly give other teams’ fan bases fodder to work with.

Why?
All Sid did was call out their unorthodox celebration. Most fan bases would not throw two separate waves of hats on the ice. People are going to hate him no matter what, that comes with being one of the best players in the world.

its called gamesmanship
and how its LEGAL for a player to complain to the officials about fans being unsportsmanlike. he was being a good captain.
just wonder if DC mentioned Ovechkin’s hollywood class acting with his dive at mid ice? and how that’s ILLEGAL gamesmanship. guessing not.
but they’re not biased, right?
