And I just wanna say that this was exactly what I meant when I said the Penguins needed to crash the crease and get up in Varlamov’s face. Varlamov made the initial save but Guerin was able to bang in the rebound by driving hard to the net. The trailer is always the most dangerous player on a play like that.

Bleeding blue and white and black and gold.

by raimman on May 8, 2009 8:01 PM EDT up reply actions

This is why I cannot stand Ovechkin and thus the Capitals by association. The guy is dangerous, not only to himself, but to other players, and Gonchar is not the first person he’s injured on a questionable hit (he boarded Jamie Heward from behind a few months ago, giving him a concussion and knocking him out for the rest of the season but because Ovechkin is a Hart Trophy winner and Jamie Heward is Jamie Heward, the league didn’t do anything about it). Unfortunately, the refusal of the NHL to regulate this idiot’s behaviour by calling him for charging or dirty hits they have put the onus on keeping him in line on the players of the opposing team. One of these days he is going to get his clock cleaned and Don Cherry’s words won’t seem xenophobic but eerily prophetic.

Conversation between my pastor and I:

Me: Is it wrong to pray for a suspension
Rev: No – it’s a matter of justice, which the Old Testament prophets said was essential to healthy community

God wants Ovechkin to be suspended.
