Evgeni Malkin goes all Babe Ruth

Great translated interview on Puck Daddy from Dmitry Chesnokov who talked to Pavel Datsyuk and Evgeni Malkin after Game 6.

Malkin had a couple of interesting takes on playoff beards, that Hossa guy and how to deal with octopuses, so check it out, it's definitely worth a read.

But here's the money quote from Geno.....

I think I am happy with my game, because we played well in defense especially against Zetterberg and Datsyuk. We didn't let them create any chances tonight. Maybe it's good that I didn't score. When you don't score for a couple of games you become really hungry for goals. That means that in the next game I will definitely score.

Penguins nation is going to hold you to it, big guy.

LOL I remember Geno picking someone’s (Datsuyk?) pocket on a steal last night ….was great

yeah, I felt Malkin’s D (especially back-checking) was better last night than I’ve ever seen. Carry the Pens to victory, Geno!

Yes it was Datsyuk that Malkin took it away from….Detroit fans like to call Datsyuk “Dangle Dangle” for his sublime stickhandling abilities, but Geno isn’t half bad himself.

Now Malkin REALLY has to call the shot.

BTW – isn’t octopi the plural of octopus? I think I remember an announcer getting into that debate last season

Here’s a winning game plan for Game 7:

1) Score the first goal.
2) Have all 5 skaters take positions inside the net behind Fleury for the rest of the game.

by Malsby on Jun 10, 2009 1:48 PM EDT reply actions

All 5 skaters? Why not just Rob?

geez, if Malkin is hungry, Hossa’s a threat to eat Windsor, Ontario (right across the river from Detroit)

He’d probably choke on it

Alexei Morozov guaranteed goal night?

I think Eaton goes back to being an offensive defense men and scores a hat trick.

Sure he can score goals, but can he cook?

i think the biggest thing the pens took from game 5 was they knew exactly what the wings would come with in a “must win game”. Same thing in game 6. they know what the wings have in the tank. the joe crowd will probably drop some extra go juice in it but ithe pens have what it takes to win at the joe, no question.
