MAX TALBOT!!!!!!!!!!

I spent the half hour car ride to the (other) bar after the game drunkenly chastising my girlfriend, driving, and another friend: “you should merge left, that’s what Max Talbot would do,” etc.

When this series started, my big desire was not so much that the Pens win as the Wings lose. I didn’t want the Pens to lose, not again, not to Hossa, not to a team with great talent and management that could have seemed like the unbeatable force that the media, the fans, and sometimes even myself built them up to be.

Somewhere along the way, and especially now, I stopped caring about the wings. I don’t feel animosity towards Hossa, or the wings fans who graciously stayed as the Pens received the cup, or Zetterberg or Babcock or anyone. All I feel is joy, glee, watching Sid hoist the cup, and Max skate around, and Geno laughing and smiling. I hope the Sid and Geno and Staal and Fleury (AND MAX!!!) can win another couple of cups, but now is not the time to worry about that. It’s not the time to worry about the wings or what Hossa is feeling or anything like that. Now is the time to buy Max Talbot Jerseys and celebrate this team!

Does anyone have a clip or transcript from Milbury and Pang’s post game 6 wrap-up? After the tirade against Hossa (yeesh, even I thought that was excessive), Milbury specifically compared ice times between Talbot and Crosby and wondered why on earth a coach would put Talbot on the ice for more minutes than Crosby. I think he said something to the effect of “If I’m Detroit, I’ll take a game where Max Talbot has more ice time than Sidney Crosby any day of the week”. or something like that. My reaction yesterday: It’s Friday, Milbury. Will that do? ;)
