Penguins Stanley Cup parade set for Monday at noon

Props to IRBilldozer for the heads up.

The Penguins announced today that the team's Championship parade, rightfully dubbed the "City of Champions Parade," is set to go down Monday afternoon at 12pm.  Personally I have issues with this but surely I'm not the only one who can't get make it to the parade.  I wouldn't mind waiting an extra week if it meant I could be there in person.

According to the release on the Pens site:

The parade will commence at 12:00 noon and take the same route as last February’s Super Bowl parade. Proceeding through Grant Street, the parade will loop to the Boulevard of the Allies and end at Stanwix Street where a stage celebration will be held. A media reviewing stand will be set up near the stage.

Thanks. To be honest I thought a lot of Rangers fans were against us this season but I was surprised at the general hatred for Detroit trumping the average Rangers fan’s hatred for Sid or Geno.

would have been nice to be a weekend event. i live in new jersey, so a 7 hour drive to pittsburgh for a day is a little extreme. i would do it if i didn’t have class and two jobs.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are your Stanley Cup Champions!!

Wish I could head out to Cincinnati now, and then take an added detour for tomorrow.

Hope anyone going takes pictures, and possibly even video. Should be a great event.

This is a little lame

I was hoping to have more than 24 hours’ notice of the parade date. No way I can get plane tickets from Boston and move around my Monday work meetings in time. Oh well.

P is for Latrobe.

What type of Bars or Shops are you looking for?

Can’t wait. I didn’t take a vacation day to go to the super bowl parade because I went to one in 2005/06. This time I was saving it just in case a miracle happened and it did. If anyone is going and would like to meet up let me know. I will be taking photos and video for all of those that could not attend.

photos and vid would be awesome. If I had more than 24 hrs’ notice I would’ve been there myself.

They did the same short notice crap for the Super Bowl parades too. Why not wait a week?

That’s what I’m saying. Put that thing on a Saturday at noon and watch the streets fill up. Tons of people on here mentioned they’d be down for the ride from out of state. Just a bit disappointing is all.
