Taxi squad celebrates the Stanley Cup too
From the Citizens Voice (Wilkes-Barre newspaper)
Late Friday night, long after captain Sidney Crosby took the first sip of champagne but before the team's charter left for Pittsburgh at 2:45 a.m., a group of six taxi squad players and a coach gathered around the Stanley Cup in the Penguins locker room for one last photo.
It was a team picture of sorts for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins who have been practicing with the parent club for the last month or so - defenseman Ben Lovejoy, goalies John Curry and Brad Thiessen, forwards Jeff Taffe, Chris Minard and Dustin Jeffrey and coach Todd Reirden.
It takes a whole organizational effort to make it to the top, good to see the background players getting to have a well-deserved good time for their contributions and efforts to help the team make it to the top.

After Pitt won the Cup I was yelling out player names as I saw them. I thought it was pretty cool that John Curry was there, along with Jeff Taffe and Chris Minard. I may have seen Connor James there too but I’m not 100% sure.

I did the same thing…I was like, Jeffrey?! Minard?!…I didn’t even recognize Godard with the big beard. Kind of amusing to see him raise the Cup, but whatever, he had a lot of good fights this year.
I think we’ll see a couple of guys come up from WBS and stay by season’s end…Caputi is one that comes to mind.
Heart, Max Talbot has it by the mile. The Pens are your 2008-2009 Stanley Cup Champions.

for some of those players its motivation for them to work harder in the off season and at camp to make the team next year and help the pens 09-10 Stanley cup run

Late to the party, but congrats to the writers of Pensburgh, the readers, the fans who haven’t discovered the internet, and the city of Pittsburgh.
Great series to watch. You folks have one helluva team to root for.
