Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Scuderi, Letang

I was born in Michigan and moved to the Pittsburgh area in elementary school. Before I ever became a Pens fan I hated the Wings. I don't know why, the only thing I can think of is I hated the color red when I was in Kindergarten, so maybe that's where it started.

Now, I don't hate any team like I hate the Wings. Game four was sweet, seeing chinks starting to appear in Detroit, seeing them wear down and not have enough to counter the Pens, I was ecstatic.

However I feel it important to say, especially after game four, that Henrik Zetterberg is an amazing player. Not having Datsyuk in the lineup has greatly increased his responsibilities and workload and for three games he did it all. He excelled on offense, penalty kill, and frankly shut down Sid, who was in the middle of one of the all time great postseasons till he ran into Zetterberg.

The difference in what Sid could do against a worn down Zetterberg last night, and what he had been able to do before then was remarkable. Kudo's to Bylsma for going after Zetterberg with the line changes and hitting, we need to wear him down, we need a tired and banged up Zetterberg. We also need Datsyuk to stay on the shelf or at least not be his usual self. The wings are reeling a bit, they don't lose two in a row. The Pens need to keep coming at Zetterberg, keep him from getting back into form. He's just too good when he's %100.

On a second note, how great is Scuderi playing this series? Really the guy is playing defense at an incredible level. The kicker last night was the play when Hossa burned Gill, and Scuderi covered and knocked the puck away, only seconds later to make another play after Gill fell down. It was great, Scuderi the one man line.

Also Letang has been playing great defense this series. Game 2 he made so many plays in the first half, and he just keeps getting the puck loose, or knocking guys off line. He is living up to the potential he showed of being a two way dynamite defenseman. The kids still young, he will get better, and that is great news for the Pens.
