Gettin' Pumped for a Game

Hello all.
Just wondering what everyone does to get ready for a game.
I, for one, blast heavy metal. More specifically, a new-found genre affectionately known as “battle metal”. For those of you not in the know, this is a genre that has surfaced as even heavy metal succumbs to a resurgance of retro sounds. These bands pay tribute to the great battle metal bands of yesteryear, most predominantly the mighty Manowar, whose songs of heroism, honor and glory found on the field of war can still ring through today. I, for one, can’t wait for the day when I can play the song The Crown and The Ring as the Penguins hoist Lord Stanley’s Cup (“High and mighty, alone we are kings, whirlwinds of fire we ride, providence brought us the Crown and the Ring, covered with blood and our pride”.) Brings a tear to my eye just thinking of it.
But, I digress. The bands I typically chose now are Amon Amarth and Dragonforce. Amon Amarth’s blend of brutality and Viking-inspired lyrics make a fantastic backdrop for hockey, it’s warriors, it’s trophy and all the glory surrounding it. My fav albums are Versus The World, With Oden On Our Side and Twilght of the Thunder God. They get my blood a-pumpin’, that’s for sure. Not to mention, you just feel like you need to drink a nice big ale. Not want, but need. Strangely, out of a large horn, but maybe that’s just me. Dragonforce is melodic metal played at lightening speed. Their metaphorical lyrics speak of conquering foes and surviving through overwhelming odds.
I just thought I’d share some of what I enjoy. I’d love to hear what others do. It’s an exciting time of the year, and we all have our rituals. While jammin’ the tunes, I don my #66 t-shirt, my Crosby jersey, my Pens cap, grab my Terrible Towel and pour a cold one into my black and gold mug (usually MGD, since it is also black and gold; and I’m from Milwaukee).
So, until we speak again, get pumped for the game and get ready for some of the best hockey ever!
