the most memorable moment
ok folks. old time has been out of the loop for a while, and unfortunatly due to work he will continue to be out of the loop. so i decided that hey with what time i get lets get some convo starters up there. this one revolves around the playoff run. There have been so many memories that i will take with me, its hard to peg just one. But for me, the one moment that identified this team as different was when Geno and Zetterberg went at it. That to me said," not this time, not this year"

Geno
Malkin’s domination of Carolina, en route to the hat trick, was one of the most memorable performances I’ve ever seen. He quite literally couldn’t be stopped.
Best moment though, that isn’t on here, the 5 minute span in Game 4 of the Finals. Staal’s short hander, 2 on 1 Geno to Sid, and then the a beautiful tick-tac-toe passing netted for a goal by Mr. Kennedy to round of the best hockey the Pens played offensively in the whole Finals. Sort of made me think, “Huh, the Wings are going to try playing the finesse game with these guys…..this might be different.”
Still, the no look backhander is my favorite moment of the Playoffs.

Ditto
G4 5 minute ass whuppin` the Pens put on the Mighty Wings, started with Staal`s shorty and finished with brilliant passing for a Kennedy goal. As for the vote and single play, if there was such a “best” one, I voted for Scuderi`s Goal work.
Game 4 5 minutes will be etched in my mind 4ever
Although Staal’s goal at the time didn’t mean as much as the final score, it was I think the best goal in the playoffs for the Pens. Staal’s individual effort was incredible. It was a real momentum goal in that game and likely the series. It belongs in the poll.
The next two goals scored were awesome too, the kind of goals you really relish seeing against a staunch Wings D, and especially against a usually disciplined team, that you (I know I’m not alone here) love to hate!

I gotta go with Geno’s goal on Ward. That backhander was just incredible. All excellent choices though and I must admit that it was extremely hard for me to pick just one.

the superstar
i gotta say down 3-0 for a guy that just doesn’t fight all that often to have the wits about him to fight with a goon in philly to change the momentum would have been enough but then to be skating to the box shhhing the crowd made me love max even more that will be what i remember from the playoffs this year. i mean that series may have gone the other way with out that fight.

Out of these, I voted for the Scuderi goal-line stand. However, I think the one I’ll remember the most from these playoffs was Sykora’s ever-so-eloquent response to an angry Detroit crowd as he raised the Cup (that response being "F*** you all!). Outstanding!

glad to see such a large number of votes. guess the old adage is true. off season is for the players, not the fans

So many good moments, so hard to choose! I still rather like one you didn’t list—Crosby in Game Seven against Washington, taking that stick to his face, checking his teeth to make sure he didn’t look like Ovechkin, then within minutes, stealing that puck from Ovie and flying away with it to score his second goal. It just really put a cherry on top, you know? I voted for Scuderi’s stick save and wish I could take it back, but for what? I’d want to be able to vote again and again. That backhander by Geno really was sick….and Talbot’s “shhhh” still makes me laugh….and….

Talbot's 2nd goal in Game 7...
was the first moment in Game 7 when I could taste victory for the Pens.
Everybody knew a 1-0 lead wouldn’t hold up, so when Max potted his 2nd goal (!!!) with Sid hurt it just raised the level of intensity for the rest of the game to heights that any fan rarely visits in sports.

I still giggle every time I watch Geno’s hat trick goal. The sheer ridiculousness of a blind turn and backhand shot over a goalie’s shoulder, all behind his back is something I doubt i will ever see again.
However, all very very good choices. Flower’s FBI save on Lidstrom and Talbot getting mauled by Carcillo, then giving it to the Philly crowd stick out as well
My Top 5 specific moments ingrained in my head (right up to the Cup celebration):
- — Talbot’s shhh
- — The moment of anticipation when Crosby skated over to the Prince of Wales and grabbed it.
- — Fleury’s breakaway save on Ovechkin in opening moments of Game 7
- — Malkin’s sensational goal vs. Carolina
- — The last second save on Lidstrom

FLEURY
WHAT ABOUT FLEURY’S TOE SAVE ON CARTER? CAN’T LEAVE THAT ONE OUT. CLOSE YOUR EYES: YOU CAN STILL PICTURE THAT ONE.
That’s a pretty good one too. Even Travis from Broad Street mentioned to me once before that Fleury’s toe save changed the course of that series. I have to agree.

Too many to count
This was the most amazing playoff run ever. I can honestly say I will probably never experience anything like this watching sports for the rest of my life.
Not only the drama of this year, but being able to think back to last year. Game 6, me on my knees in front of my TV with my face in my hands. Then to be able to have that so fresh in my mind and contrast it with what it felt like, sitting in front of the same TV, when the first set of gloves flew in the air and game 7 was over. I can’t imagine this will ever be duplicated for me in this lifetime.
I am totally going to go watch the DVD again right now.
2 moments stick out for me
in a negative sense, f course….
Scuderi’s save will always be the moment of the Pens cup run for me, because that was a chance for the Red Wings to return the favor from Game 5 of last year’s SCF, tie up the game late in dramatic, heart breaking fashion, and then take the cup in OT on hostile ice. And it wasn’t Marc Andre Fleury that was in the way, it was an oft underappreciated defenseman saving the, really, the second time that game that he bailed out MAF, what with the earlier clearing of the puck when Lidstrom had a chance to bury it in, I think, the second period.
But even that wouldn’t have been necessary had MAF not stoned Dan Cleary on a breakaway a couple minutes before that. Cleary’s not a guy you think of as a penalty shot/breakaway scorer, but he’d been on a scoring tear these playoffs, and he’d finished off a breaker on the Hawks the previous round, so it was one of those moments where we Red Wings fans all jumped out of our seats in anticipation.
And, granted, Cleary didn’t make it difficult for Flower….but given the moment, given the situation, Fleury stood up tall and proud on that breakaway, and gave the Pens the chance to need Scuderi’s last second heroics. Neither of those saves should really exist in our collective memories without the other, yet it’s going to be the Scuderi effort that lives on, while Fleury’s game 6 heroics get sidelined by one diving moment at the end of game 7. But for his save against Cleary, I’d argue that there very well may not ever have been a game 7.

Mario?
The most memorable moment had to be Talbot cutting off his TV interview so that the camera could get a shot of Mario hoisting the cup. That was great to see him be able to do that again.
That was great.

I thought Max's 1st goal in game 7 was the best
For me it was one of those “whoa! how’d that happen” moment’s. Due to the speed of the play I wasn’t quite sure what happened. I was excited, and psyched the Pens scored first (I think a big momentum swing at that point).

Max Shhhhing the croud was one of the funniest things in Round 1
Sid took over the Washington series and Geno did the same in the Carolina series.

Has to be Fleury's last second save on Lidstrom
When I saw that loose puck rebound out to Fleury’s right and Lidstrom pinching in, my life flashed before my eyes. Then Fleury makes a sprawling Superman dive to block it and Craig Adams throws his body on the puck like a soldier valiantly snuffing out a grenade.
Only then could I allow myself to look at the game clock: triple snake-eyes!!!
Penguins win the Cup!!!
