Skyora interview didn't happen?

Another update (and a welcome one) on the Sykora - Bylsma drama that has been chronicled here on Pensburgh.  Allen Walsh just posted the following on his Twitter feed:

A tabloid in Czech Republic published an interview w Petr Sykora alleging a rift between him and Dan Bylsma. The "interview" never happened.

I hope that Walsh is right and this isn't just damage control because the quotes from Sykora seemed petty and juvenile.  Sounds like good news to me.

The content expressed in fanposts does not necessarily reflect the opinions of the staff here at Pensburgh.com. FanPosts are opinions expressed by fans of various teams throughout the league but may be more Pittsburgh-centric for obvious reasons.

Sounds like it never happened….I received a couple emails saying that the Czech “newspaper” that published the piece is not very credible.

I’ll put something on the main page soon, as some fans had very negative feelings towards Petr and owe him an apology if it isn’t true.

While I take everything I read on the internet and in newspapers with a grain of salt, rumors of a rift between Sykora and Bylsma have been in circulation long before the above-mentioned comments allegedly made by Sykora in a Czech interview. Even if such a falling out did occur during their time as teammates, however, I have trouble believing a player who has been around as long as Sykora would be stupid enough to acknowledge it publicly. Hockey is one of the few professional sports where a large majority of the players still subscribe to the old-school belief that anything worth saying is best said through their on-ice performance. Unless an individual is in possession of an uncommon level of talent or is widely respected by the hockey community in general, speaking candidly to the press on almost any subject can destroy a player’s career, especially if that player is in the market for a new contract.
