Tom Barrasso named to USA Hockey Hall of Fame

Congrats to former Pittsburgh Penguin goalie Tom Barrasso for the announcement that he's been named to the USA Hockey Hall of Fame.  Also honored John LeClair, who finished his career in Pittsburgh.

The 1998 U.S. Olympic Women's Ice Hockey Team, Tony Amonte, Tom Barrasso, John LeClair and Frank Zamboni will be enshrined into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame as the Class of 2009, it was announced today by USA Hockey.

Barrasso's attitude and personality has made him a polarizing figure, but congrats to him just the same, without his contributions the high-flying Penguins wouldn't have won the two Stanley Cups that the did back in the early '90s.  LeClair may best be known be Penguin fans, unfortunately, as the guy who collided with Evgeni Malkin in training camp, delaying the debut of the young Russian in his rookie season.

Way to go Tommy B. His relationship with the press has always been a bit strained, as you touched upon in the post, but I really think there isn’t a single fan of the Pens who will fault him for that. He came to down, did his job and backstopped a great team.

Plus Barrasso used to torment Jean-Sebastien Aubin and I despised Aubin.

Wow

I can’t believe that John LeClair got in.

Remember it’s the USA Hockey Hall of Fame

LeClair scored 400+ goals in the NHL, had 800+ points, a nice career. He was also a five time 40+ goal scorer in the late ’90s when the “dead puck” area and traps started springing up.

He was a part of Team USA’s silver medal in 2002 and who knows how many other tournaments wearing the red, white and blue.

Well yeah, I seen that it’s the USA HOF, so I’m guessing that’s why he’s in.

I guess my hatred for him is still oozing from his flyers days
