Florida Panthers Sign Jeff Taffe

According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Panthers have signed Jeff Taffe to a two-year deal. NHL Numbers has the deal at $1M total, split between the two seasons. Not really a major loss, but Jeff was a large part of the Wilkes-Barre team for a couple of years, as well as being a viable depth option when the big team was short. Hopefully, Jeff will enjoy an expanded role on a shallower Panthers team.

Thanks for the heads up. I know Taffe signed on with Florida last week some time, right around the same time that Minard went to Edmonton, but I wasn’t sure of the contract details. I’ve said countless times that being a forward in Pittsburgh’s system must be one of the hardest roles to take, seeing as how it’s so difficult to crack the top lineup. But if a stand-up guy like Taffe has a better shot on another team, I wish him luck and look forward to seeing him on the NHL level next season.

Found out that the second year of the contract is a 1 way contract, meaning he’s gonna get the full $500,000 if he’s in the NHL or the minors. big boost for him
