Pittsburgh Penguins announce 2009-10 pre-season schedule
Not much news is coming out, but here's a little nugget: the Penguins pre-season schedule has been announced. I believe the regular season skeddie is usually released around late July/early August, if you just can't wait to get it started again.
The Penguins’ 2009 pre-season schedule:
Friday, Sept. 18, TORONTO AT PITTSBURGH, 7:30 p.m.
Monday, Sept. 21, Pittsburgh at Montreal, 7:30 p.m.
Tuesday, Sept. 22, Pittsburgh at Toronto, 7:00 p.m.
Thursday, Sept. 24, Pittsburgh at Columbus, 7:00 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 25, COLUMBUS AT PITTSBURGH, 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 27, Pittsburgh at Detroit, 5:00 p.m.
Hopefully this pre-season everyone can get through without major injury -- unlike last year's catastrophic Sergei Gonchar injury. (Don't worry, David Koci is in Colorado this year!)

Bet Detroit’ll be extra-motivated, though…what’s left of them.

meh, it’s still preseason though. If Sid and co. even take the ice for 10 minutes it’ll be a miracle.

Thank you! You have no idea how much I appreciate the update. We’re still planning to skip Christmas with my family in favor of seeing Pittsburgh and Detroit in their home arenas. This is going to be our December time off, our travel/hotel money, our money for gifts to each other, our anniversary budget (we married at the cusp of midnight on New Year’s Eve), everything. So I’m going to need to move like a gazelle in order to get decent tickets.
So glad I decided to keep up with this blog in the off-season!

Does anybody know how to find out in advance where the cup is going next? I’m from Montreal and I know a couple of the guys are too, I would love to see Lord Stanley in person (besides in the Hall of Fame of course :p)

I was fortunate enough to see it at the Bell Centre during the NHL Draft, and I know that later in the summer it will return to the hall of fame in Toronto. Couldn’t tell you where it’ll be next. Maybe that tracker thing on the HoF website can tell ya.

I’m just hoping we can get through this preseason without anyone going down. Besides Gonchar, I still remember when Malkin went out in his first preseason game. Oh, how I miss John LeClair.
It weighs 35 pounds - unless you're hoisting it above your head.
John LeClair. I was tempted to buy a t-shirt jersey of him for $5 once. I spent it on a sandwich instead. Better investment.
