Thursday links: Brooks Orpik's brother signs AHL contract, Mike Sillinger retires, Crosby's Olympic linemates
- To answer my own question from yesterday - yes, all three Staal brothers are invited to Olympic camp and yes, this storyline is going to get old fast. [Pittsburgh Penguins]
- Brooks Orpik's brother Andrew was signed to an AHL contract with the San Antonio Rampage. The eyes clearly run in the family. [Steel City Sports Fan]
- Great moments in unlicensed Pittsburgh sports merch: a Penguins/Steelers t-shirt that some wanna-be entrepeneur likely e-mailed me about after the Cup win. [PSAMP]
- MIke Sillinger retired from the league. He played for almost half the league. [Lighthouse Hockey]
- Have a little more than $140 million just laying around? You can outbid the NHL's offer on the Phoenix Coyotes. Potentially outbidding Jim Balsillie - well, that's another story. [THN]
- Martin St. Louis, Sidney Crosby and Rick Nash. How does that line sound for Canada's Olympic team? Hooks also tackled this one earlier today, so if you have something else in mind feel free to post. [CBC]

Bet an Orpik family reunion would be really unnerving for non-Orpiks.
Now, imagine the tired old Staal brother storyline colliding with a new Orpik brother storyline, not to mention the Staal brothers colliding with the Orpik brothers…
"Darling, you say Brooks Orpik 'checked' that guy. He did not 'get under him and put him into the wall'."--Beloved to me, Winter 2007
As I commented on Die by the Blade (Orpik’s bro was in their minor league system), I’d love to see what a Sears family photo looked like when they were younger. Must’ve been an extremely humorous sight to see.
