Jackets beat Penguins 5-2: one more preseason game to go

Seeing as how I, along with many, did not have a chance to watch or listen, here are just a few highlights based on the scoresheets. If you happened to catch a few clips (or, uh, feeds), by all means fill us in. Full NHL.com summary here .

Evgeni Malkin had 1G, 1A
Paul Bissonnette dropped the mitts twice, while Tyler Kennedy, Mike Rupp, Jay McKee and Deryk Engelland picked up a fight each. Not to be outdone, Eric Godard and Matt Cooke each received a game misconduct as well.
Nate Guenin helped his case for that 7th defenseman spot, picking up the only other goal in the game.
Marc-Andre Fleury played all game, stopping 27 of 32

Red Wings on Sunday at 5pm on the NHL Network. Then, it's time for hockey that matters.

Well, when Crosby is out (hurt) everyone seems to step up & play a lot better.

Yeah just caught that. It’s been labeled precautionary, which is at least hopeful it won’t leave him down and out for long. But I think it’s best if he sits out Sunday’s meaningless game against the Wings.

Whew, thank heavens I drafted Malkin. DOH! Fantasy hockey loyalties are getting ahead of my real life team loyalties. I’m so confused.

I winced at that picture. Hate Rick Nash right now.

If nothing else, the guys have fighting down cold. I’ve said this before, but I get amazed at how the Pens can all melt down and let their frustrations get the better of them together. The other side of that coin, of course, is that they can all help each other out, work together well, and win together, so I’m okay with that. It still leads to some really remarkable train wrecks occasionally.

I find it hard to really hate on Rick Nash. The guy’s a great player and dirty definitely isn’t in his repertoire. High sticks are part of the game, but that picture was just about as “in the moment” as you will find.

Oh, I’ll be over that hate soon enough. The Pens (including Letang) definitely brought the dirty last night, so I can’t really complain. I just don’t feel like being fair, especially since NASCAR also sucked for me the last couple of weekends.
