Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Seriously? Did he just like, kind of put out a hit for Gonchar?

haha that’s exactly what he did. Coming from a guy who LEADS the league in hits, I guess he should know what it’s all about.

Coming from a guy who LEADS the league in hits
(Thanks to a very generous home-town stat crew)

Hey Guys!
Just wanted to put out the invite to join the debate over at Hockey Wilderness. I just posted it, and wanted to make sure all of you had the chance to weigh in, defend your guy, join the debate. Hope to see you there.
(Also… not a fan of Clutterbuck’s comment. Forgot to add it in the post, I am going to go add it now.)

I completely agree that the hit by Gonchar was wrong and he should be suspended for it. I also understand that he did not just do it just for the hell of it. They both had some confrontations prior to that play, but it was definitely wrong of Gonchar to do what he did.
Is it just me or has Gonchar been playing some pretty sloppy hockey recently?
Is it just me or has
Goncharthe whole defensive corps been playing some pretty sloppy hockey recently?
Yes.
Definitely not just you. Way too many odd-man rushes. No goalie should be subjected to a 3-on-1, let alone on a few different occasions this season. Plus, the fact that the Pens have had three penalty shots called against them within the last month (although Panikorovsky never took his because of the Gonchar goal) should also stand as some evidence that the Pens are allowing too many breakaways.

Goligoski has looked extremely putrid lately. He was among the league leaders with +/- before his injury and playing fairly well in his own end. Not now.

That comment is pretty absurd from a guy that throws as many hits as he does. Gooch has made it this far so he’s obviously doing something right, it’s not like he’s Ryan Hollweg. I thought the hit was bad but there won’t be a suspension, fwiw.
Now let's say you and I go toe to toe on bird law and see who comes out the victor.
Backing down here for us or just feel different after settling down? That’s a little different than your thoughts last night…
I’m already annoyed by the fact that nobody is going to be outraged about that hit.

That comment was more about my assumption that this hit wouldn’t get any attention. It was made right after the hit. Obviously there was more response than I expected but I don’t think that comment is really related to the one I made here. I don’t think Gooch is a dirty player, or deserved a suspension; but I did expect him to get different treatment than certain other Russian players.
Now let's say you and I go toe to toe on bird law and see who comes out the victor.
You know what though dudes, I seriously think that Gonchar is just as frustrated at the team as Mario, Bylsma, or even Shero is, because all you hear is how the PP struggles without Sarge. I would be pretty pissed if my name kept being thrown around as an excuse, especially when you’re defending Stanley Cup champions. So I wouldn’t be surprised if he is just fed up with how his team is playing, and that is also what I’m taking that hit as, kind of like a wake up call that snap everyone out of it. Because I think it’s safe to say that Sarge doesn’t usually go for crap like that. I think he’s just trying to spark something.

is there going to be a fine for butterdick’s comments? those are worse than the hit! Seriously, this is a guy that tries to put people in the third row when he hits them….a little taste of your own medicine, suck it up buddy! The hit was high, we all know that……f the w/the bull and you know what happens. Besides, this is Sarge we’re talking about here, guys don’t get any classier as far as i’m concerned. He’s lucky brooksie wasn’t out there. He’d still be trying to get up

HA! glad you liked that boys. Do you know where i’m coming from though? There is no excuse to make a comment like that.
I totally get it. It was hilarious that Clutterfuck said “oh it won’t be me” as if he was taking the high road in any way with making such a douche comment. So basically he’s relying on the rest of the league to do dirty work for him (like its the Italian mafia or some shit) and at the end of the day and with the exception of this moment, Gonch is such a classy dude that everyone in the league will just laugh in Clutterfuck’s face.
Yeah I like that too. Hey somebody’s gonna get you. Not me, but someone else.
Also, what’s up with “he better retire at the end of the year” and “someone’s gonna hurt him before the end of the year”. Uhh, it’s no help in retiring if he’s gonna already get hurt before then.

All that’s missing in his statement is a “Right guys!?” rally cry, followed by a blank look over his shoulder for support.

yep, you’re right. it almost seems he realized what he had just said, and backed off of things a little bit. I love players that play that style of game, finish every check, every time. But don’t whine when you get knocked on your ass. Moreover, clutterbuck had time to think about what he was going to say….gonchar’s hit was completely impulsive during the heat of the moment…excuse the cliche!
Clutterbuck needs to shut-up
and worry about his next meeting with Edmonton. Sheldon Souray has shown every indication over the last two seasons that he might kill the young man.

I'm so curious of who the NHL Mafia consists of in Clutterbuck's mind.
Really. Who the players that he thinks look at the highlight reel for NHL “injustices” and mark their calendars? Even our enforcers have better things to do.
This quote is funnier if you picture Clutterbuck starting with a “Bitch please” and ending with a Z-snap. Oh, and if you picture him saying it in full drag. but that’s just me.
It’s the verbal version of a throat-slitting motion. Fine Clutterbuck a la Carcillo. Fine him now!
