All right folks, we're almost there. Just two more preseason games to get through this weekend and then we're well on our way to the regular season next Thursday. I know we've all grown to hate Mondays with this whole work and school thing many of us do, but come Monday morning we're just four days away. So maybe it won't be such a crappy day after all.
Looking ahead to tonight's game, the Penguins will be without (deep breath) Sidney Crosby (aforementioned hip discomfort), Ryan Craig, Evgeni Malkin, Mike Comrie, Dustin Jeffrey, Brooks Orpik, Zybnek Michalek and Dr. Ben Lovejoy.
Both Marc-Andre Fleury and Brad Thiessen will be splitting duties between the pipes tonight, so we can at least get a look/listen to that. Full lineup after the jump.

Hey, PensBurghers! How did we look on Tuesday? I had my wisdom teeth removed that afternoon and I was feeling pretty crappy that night and I forgot there was a game.

It’s to be expected that they would be super-conservative about injuries in the pre-season, but I’m starting to suspect that something may actually be wrong here and I’m furthing suspecting that this something may have been plaguing him for years (remember how he looked in the 2009 playoffs? like he was a step behind?)

Yeah, there’s definitely an element of that here, but I still suspect he has a chronic nagging injury that they are wisely keeping under wraps.

He said if this was a regular season game, he would play. He also made the trip to Chicago and thinks he’ll play Sat.
Also, I’m not really sure what you mean by the 2009 playoffs…he had 30 points. It’s not like he straggled behind. I’d attribute that more to Nic Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Rafalski shadowing him every shift.

It wasn’t so evident in the Detroit series; I saw it more in the first two rounds. And, yeah, he did turn in a very solid performance, it just seemed to me like occasionally he was a step behind his usual self. Maybe I’m just being paranoid.

Oh gosh, the next 4 weekends are brutal. On the upside, my sister and I are catching the Sens-Rangers game tomorrow night (except I see that both their line-ups are pretty much their regular season rosters tonight which doesn’t give me much hope for tomorrow night’s game). They are both playing tonight. Staalsy tied the game towards the end of the third and I am beginning to think neither of them will play tomorrow :( On the upside, the sister and I are going to see the Pens play at the ’Bank next March. So hopefully I will see Gonchar and Kovalev then.
Oh yeah Kovalev. I wasn’t around Pensland when he was there, so I will always hate him (he leaves Montreal to go where? Ottawa?)

It’s funny, his first game back at Montreal the fans booed him and then he scored. And the Habs played abominably so by the end, the fans were screaming for him to come back. So much so that he got a standing ovation. I still have a soft spot for him.
I remember near the end of his last year in Montreal, they had a standing-O for him because the Bell Centre anounced that he said he didn’t want to leave Montreal because he loves their fans.

I spent a little time in the States as a kid. Saw Mario’s last game in the Civic against the Flyers. When I got back to Singapore, there wasn’t enough hockey to watch so I spent a lot of time following the teams I could watch. This meant a lot of the Devils & Wings (i know right?), some of the Sabres but the breakthrugh for hockey here were the Ducks… (Damn you Disney)
I followed multiple teams but the Pens always had a soft spot in my heart. When MArio saved the Pens, I discovered internet radio.

I’m happy with most of the roster players, our goalie’s just not playing so well right now (which is understandable because it’s his first season in North America)

sorry :( But ….. yes I grew up during the Habs/Bruins era. Great hockey during the time of the phenomenal 5 year run of the Habs. Couldn’t help myself. Plus, I lived in Kingston. We got the Habs games, not the Leafs

I remember going to Huntsville once and seeing so many Habs fans. It’s crazy how they can have way more fans in Ontario than the Leafs and Sens have fans in Quebec.

Cool. I’ve always kinda liked the Rangers since I watched them win my first Stanley Cup final in 1994 and since my NHL 11 character got drafted by them I have kinda renewed my lost love for them.

The last one I had was NHL 08 and the difference is amazing. I’m spending all my free time playing 11. I’ve only had it for three weeks and I’ve already played an entire season and playoffs, and am into my second regular season.
