I was snooping around the net and found an article from way back in June that proclaims the Caps plan to reveal their jerseys tomorrow - 10 / 2 / 10 - at their "Caps Convention"
I don't know about you folks, but I am very hungry to see the new Winter Classic uniforms.
The Caps will unveil the uniforms they're going to wear in the Winter Classic on New Year's Day in Pittsburgh at the Caps Convention on Oct. 2, the team announced this afternoon.
Hopefully the Pens organization already knows this and plans to reveal ours as well.
There was a side story on the Pens page on September 25th mentioning that the design would be brought out of the mist very soon. Rob Rossi ( though opinions are varied on him this is a good article ) mentioned in it as a "new blue uniform."
A new blue-colored alternate uniform is soon to be unveiled by the team. It will debut at the outdoor game against Washington, and the Penguins plan to adopt it next season as a "third" uniform.
There has been much speculation about the look. If you have access to ThePensBlog they had a 3 part story that showed actual stitched jerseys that definitely did not look that much like mock ups to me.
As of now the rumor mill says one of three options are out there:
1. New baby/navy blue that is a hybrid of 3 or more uniforms.
2. The 91 uniforms.
3. The oldschool diagonal PITTSBURGH across the chest look, which if gone with could be either black and gold or blue. Logo-wise we seem to be set in stone on the old "Scarfed Penguin."
I am sure many of you have been to Dick's Sporting Goods as well and have seen the plethora of WC items there...interesting to note that none of the t-shirts are baby blue in color. If you haven't, you should check it out! Tons of Winter Classic stuff in there. Pens fans shouldn't miss out on that!
Anyways, I hope others are as interested as I am. A lucky fellow I work with just won tix on the Steelers season holder's lotto to the Classic.
