Random Thoughts on an Off Day

  • Rick Rypien is definitely looking at some suspension time but the question is, How long?  If I'm taking a random, uninhibited guess on it I'm tossing out 20 games, minimum.  What say you?
  • You remember when Ryan Whitney was out with his foot injury and surgery in 2008?  Why do I remember not caring all that much compared to watching Jordan Staal recover from his injury?
  • Is Mark Letestu here to stay?  He and his dad may be starting to think so.  I find it hard to fathom there is any sort of demotion in his future, even if his production cools off slightly.  The impact he's made in such a short span of time really does speak volumes for his work ethic.  Here's to hoping it continues.
  • If you ever sprain your ankle and the doctor says "I wouldn't advise playing on this," take his advice.  That was two years ago and I've regretted it since.  My testing of the MLX Skates may have to wait another week or so.
  • I'm curious to see how the Pens will do on this upcoming three-game road trip.  Nashville is off to a hot 3-0-2 start. St. Louis is 2-1-2 but Jaroslav Halak is showing last season was no fluke.  And then there is Tampa Bay, currently sitting at the top of the Southeast Division.  For what it's worth, the Pens are 2-0 on the road so far.
