Orpik's return likely Saturday
Head coach Dan Bylsma said that he expects defenseman Brooks Orpik to return to the lineup Saturday night in St. Louis. Orpik has been out since Oct. 10 with a groin strain.
"I haven’t talked to Brooks, but hopefully (Saturday) will be the day for him to get back in there."

44
will be awesome to have him back
hopefully he’s full strength
with the team winning, not necessary to rush him
Citing the case of Fleury v. Johnson, do we really want to bring Brooks back right now? The team is on a “hot streak” without him.
Just kidding. It will be great to have 44 back there patrolling the blue line and handing out free candy. It is almost Halloween, after all

I wonder who they do sit, though.
Hutchinson hasn’t looked bad, neither has Engelland. Lovejoy, with time, is starting to come into his own a little more too.
Hutch probably is the odd man out, but he’s played well on PP2.
In the past two games, Hutchinson’s played about 35 minutes, compared to the other two getting a total of 30/31.
"Game's the same. Just got more fierce."
Too many guys getting the job done…it’s a good problem to have.

Well they’re playing 14-16 minutes a night, so it’s not exactly like they’re pulling big weight.
Orpik’s return has got to be welcome to the new “big 3” (Goose, Tang, Martin) who have had to play almost 30 a night lately.
"Game's the same. Just got more fierce."
It seems pretty much a no brainer to me. Lovejoy has been all-round solid, if not flashy. Engelland actually made me exclaim “I love that kid!!” during the last game, after standing up for Malkin. And that’s not taking into account his general feistiness and heavy hits. He hasn’t been perfect on the back end, but neither has Hutchinson. Granted Hutchinson has been decent on the 2nd PP, but with Martin, Letang and GoGo in the lineup, I don’t feel that’s enough to warrent keeping him around. It’s good to know he’s there, ready to be called up, should we need him again (knock on wood that we won’t!).
I agree. Although I don’t like how much Engelland fights, given that he’s a D-man. Leaving the team to play with just 5 D for at least 5 minutes in a game is not ideal.
Umm ... Hockey Rocks.
Single Digits
I do like the fact that the Pens put 5 d-men out there with single digit numbers on their jerseys. It sort of has an old school-cool look.
#3-Goligoski
#5-Engelland
#6-Lovejoy
#7-Martin
#8-Hutchinson
Makes sense
My wife commented recently that Letang was the only one with double digits, but we both agreed it was appropriate since he’s about 10 time better than all those guys.

Well, for sure 10 times better looking.
And yes, I am a guy.

And also really makes you realize just how many numbers really are retired in Montreal, when you think about it.

In the early days, guys got priority bunks on the train based on their numbers — as in the lower the number, the sooner you got to pick. In turn, it was often the case that the better guys on the team got the lower numbers. So it’s not that surprising that lots of lower numbers are retired for Original Six teams.
Umm ... Hockey Rocks.
Yeah...
… I seen an interview with Gordie Howe and he said his first number was 17 (I think, not sure) but when he was given the chance at a lower number he took it so he could have a better bunk on the trains.
Excellent news, undoubtedly Orpik is not rushing his return, He is a veteran player, and knows there’s no rush. It’ll be good to have 44 back in the lineup. Also, no matter who sits down, everyone that has been called up, has gained invaluable experience, which will pay dividends mainly in the postseason, because is likely that some of them will be playing at some point.
The Hockey Dr.
Just how strong can this team get really, were missing Staal, Candy, Z and asham and still we’re winning now that our big two have found their grove (plus our 3 OD man are playing awesome atm)

this is good news. but who sits when Orpik is back in the lineup?
Hutchinson, Engelland or Lovejoy? (what a dilemma..)
"Great Balls of Fire".....Mike Lange
Hutch will sit.
He had that really bad turnover last night. Ick.

Idk…
Engelland made some pretty bad ones himself. We could see a surprise.
