Max Talbot being TRADED?

Okay, please tell me this is just a really bad rumor!! So far this morning FaceBook has been filled with posts about Max being traded, Max being gone before the trade deadline, Max making more commercials than scoring on the ice, etc... The Penguins can't really be considering trading Talbot can they? Yes, this season he's been off his game and fighting injuries. But when he's been on the ice the PENS have played better. And when the team needs someone to step up, TALBOT has been there, weather it was the fight in Philly, the last second goals out of nowhere, or the ONLY 2 goals in game 7 for the Stanley Cup win.

The content expressed in fanposts does not necessarily reflect the opinions of the staff here at Pensburgh.com. FanPosts are opinions expressed by fans of various teams throughout the league but may be more Pittsburgh-centric for obvious reasons.

I think that’s all you need to know in terms of whether or not this is true.

Fact is Talbot has been having a rough go this season but I don’t know if the Pens will put him on the block. The goal right now is for him to get a bit healthier first. Now if the Pens do go after another center and move Jordan up to the second line, perhaps there is a possibility of Max being traded. But his value isn’t exactly at it’s highest right now and the pens would probably be best served to just hold onto him.

I agree completely Frank, I don’t think the Pens will move Talbot (especially because of his current low value). I have to say that I am very disappointed with the production of Max (just like everyone else), but I have faith in his ability to bounce back. I’m hoping it’s sooner than later, and the time frame could definitely depend on where he falls in the new line shuffle.

My wish for the trade deadline is a winger for Geno (sniper or power forward), and I really hope they’ll stay away from the hunt for a new center. As someone said in a previous trade-talk post, with guys like Letestu, Adams, Talbot, Rupp, and even Kennedy who can play center on the 3rd or 4th lines I’d rather see our scoring winger problem solved.

agreed

Even IF the Pens wanted to trade Max I wouldn’t think they can get much in return. I really don’t believe there’s anyone in the coaching and management staff that’s seriously thinking about trading Talbot.

You have to see it for yourself...

Are you saying trade Geno for a winger? or get a winger for Geno’s line?

I think he’s suggesting they go out and find a winger to play WITH Geno. Malkin’s not going anywhere.

We couldn’t fit AO under the cap. ;)

Oh God NO! Definitely a winger TO PLAY WITH Geno. If we EVER trade Geno, a big part of me will die…….

Phew…I sort of assumed by your screen-name…but I was just making sure.

Yeah Geno is my favorite player hands down (not to take away from my other close 2nd favorites such as Sid, Orpik, Fleury, Stall, Gonch, Kennedy, etc.) I just can’t imagine the Pens without any of those guys as the core in this day and age.

My Geno obsession runs so deep, that I’ve already made my girlfriend swear that our first-born son will be named Geno (when we decide to take that road). Geno Hamilton has a beautiful ring to it, and maybe he’ll have my hockey passion in his blood!

auto correct tends to turn “Staal” into “Stall” I’ve found

Ha ha

I won the battle with the wife and get to name our first born son Max. One new PensFan shall arrive while the Pens are hopefully winning their second of back to back Cups.

LOL this is amazing.

I’ve already had this discussion with my girlfriend, that if we ever get to the point of having kids, I have to name one of my children after a Penguin. We decided on Sidney. What else is good.

Plus, when they went into Game 7, I said a prayer the night before for the Pens and added that if they won I would name a kid after a Penguin. I don’t want to look like a fool in front of God now do I?

I’m all for Mario, which would work well with my Italian last name. But I’m also Frank III, so there’s a good chance I’ll keep the legacy going with Frankie 4.0.

Ya, that is just bad juju to break a streak like that. You’re ancestors would haunt you till the end of your days.
