Gameday update: Johnny starts, Guerin back, Kennedy out

Bill Guerin's back is ready to go, but an undisclosed lower body injury will bump Tyler Kennedy out of the lineup.

The Pens are expected to use Guerin with Kunitz and Crosby, Malkin will center Fedotenko and Ponikarovsky, Dupuis bumps down to play with Staal and Cooke, and Talbot/Adams/Rupp rounds out the lineup.

Here’s to hoping TK can use the time off to fully heal….and fully focus….I don’t know what his deal is, but I hope he can get a little hot before the playoffs start.

Didn’t Tiger have a groin injury or somthing a while back? I know he wasn’t out that long, maybe not long enough? I wouldn’t worry about him, except that his slapshot seems to be flinging higher and wider than usual. Hopefully it’s from this injury and not in his melon.

When TK gets going he can be a spark plug that gets things going beyond the Sid and Geno show, hope it’s nothing that nags him on and on.

Who would you bench for him? Sucks to have him riding the pine, but it’s a good problem to have – seven quality NHL defenseman. Of which McKee is the most expendable, unfortunately.

Kennedy’s shooting percentage is down this year — below 7% — and that’s really hurting his goals. He (like Dupuis) loves the slap shot and he’s not afraid to use it, but it’s not a high percentage shot. I mean, he’s fifth on the team in shots, for cryin’ out loud!

I think a lot of it is luck, and he’s just had a lot of the bad kind this year.

But on that line I think it is a good thing. Staal and Cooke are good in front of the net, and on the boards, just fling the sucker at the net. It’s the drop-off in the rest of his game that hurts. We need Kennedy back in good form soon.

So did I, but he’s got a lot of the tools that Kennedy has — speedy, responsible winger, good shot, so he should slide right in there.

Gotta get that Kunitz/Crosby/Guerin line back up and running, it’s been quite a while since all 3 have been on the ice together.

Love that Billy G will be back. He complements Crosby super-well, crashes the net, plays tough in the corners, and keeps the goons honest.
