oh! oh! oh! this is kind of off topic, but not really? i just got tickets to my first pens game at home (pens v. hurricanes on the 20th whoooooo). any recommendations on things to do?
(also, if this is too off topic, just yell and i’ll delete it.)
it’s all good. i think it’s topical.
check out the overlook, that’s pretty cool. go to the merch store attached, that’s fun. if the weather’s nice walk around PNC Park and grab a Primanti Bros. sandwich

oh, awesome!! i’m hoping it’ll be a good game. =)

Out of curiosity, did any of our suggestions help in your quest for tickets?
by PensAreYourDaddy on Mar 2, 2010 11:37 PM EST up reply actions
(just saw this, sorry.)
actually, yeah. i checked out all of those sources, but ended up just using the ticket master exchange. but i bookmarked them! i’m in section b2. =)

No problem, this is an old thread so you might not even read this post. B2 should be rocking. The folks behind you in C30, 31, 1 and 2 are generally quite loud and into the game. Plus you’ll have a great view of those lovely Cup banners! I’ll be in East Igloo 2, which will be a nice view, but the fans in the Igloo section tend to be a little quiet for my taste.
With this being your first game at the Igloo, you may enjoy a trip to the Igloo Club before the game. You could go for the pregame brunch buffet, or just hang out and have a drink at the bar. At the very least it makes for a good photo op. If you are at all interested or just want more info, feel free to contact me at millerm66@comcast.net. I should be able to get you guest passes, which go for $5 each.

By “guest passes”, I just mean Igloo Club passes. You wouldn’t actually be there as anyone’s guest. That may not have been clear from my original post.

MAF looked a little sheepish when they announced him as a gold medal winner. I guess he feels awkward since he didn’t play.

Yea I caught that too. Pretty understandable though

Crap I didn’t get home soon enough to see the Olympic tribute… sad to hear that people booed Crosby, and hoping they were buffalo fans.
At least he’s shooting more these days.

Talbot hurt already again. Surprise.

he was on his knees playing the puck, Sabre slammed his head into the boards. He’s ok, just shaken up

We are dominating right now, but that doesn’t mean we play another 40 minute game.

After watching the Olympics, I have become a convert to no-touch icing. The game has pretty much the same feel, but with less chance of a player getting killed.
i liked it. I got some criticism for admitting that to my friends during the Gold medal game, but I like it

I think I’d rather see the Filet-o-Fish commercial than the fat guy with the short jersey in the A&L Motors commercial.
He fries your mind, like its fish fillet.

Not a bad period,
but how the heck does Hecht of all people end up uncovered in front of the net? This is the stuff that must be worked out in the next 20 games.
"Never mistake motion for action." - Ernest Hemingway
Great period.
The Pens dominated most of the time. I was mostly impressed with the PP puck control, that was great.

oh well I just remember it being a stick, but I guess it was both. I actually thought it was a pretty novel idea. Are there any rules against it? Nope, not at the time at least. But it does break one of the unspoken rules…don’t be an asshole.

i’m good friends with a caps fan (I KNOW!) and pretty much the only thing we can agree on is our hate for avery.
Avery should be send to the Middle East: That would instantly stabalize the situation as all people would be united by their hate for Avery.

From most of the interviews he’s done, it’s pretty clear that even Sean Avery doesn’t like Sean Avery.
good to see youth hockey in pittsburgh on the rise.

alright we need another goal early in the period and really step on the throats of the sabres. johnson is playing well enough to win tonight so lets not let them back in this game.

I have a number of avatars of guys who had bit parts in Pens history. I think it serves as a decent reminder of where we’ve come from.
i agree. It’s like that dark path covered in overgrowth that you try and forget

No to both.
I’ve got Chiodo (WBS), Orpik, Armstrong (WBS), Tarnstrom, Boguniecki, Christiansen, Malkin (in a Team Russia jersey from juniors, I believe), Thibault, Leclair, Melichar, Koltsov (WBS), Fleury with the yellow pads, Lemieux, front and back of Recchi, Talbot, Ouellet, Scuderi (WBS), Malone, Caron, Gonchar, Endicott, and Crosby.
It’s actually most of the team from whatever year most of those guys would represent.
WOW what a goal. Feds with a huge assist. NICE

Malkin drew two defenders. Textbook no no in hockey for that Dman

i heard fleury got caught in traffic (no, like cars traffic =) and couldn’t make practice this morning or something?
Probably just trying to catch up with the time zone again. That’s my theory at least

Sid trying to be flashy. That was a bit unnecessary. I’d rather he stand up and make a good pass

That was a pretty perfect shot though, as much as I hate to admit it

i think you are correct. tanger eaton, gonch brooks thats a pretty decent d core when they are playing well.
by guns dont kill people pittsburgh does on Mar 2, 2010 8:42 PM EST up reply actions
Exactly. Gogo has tons of potential. If he can put on a little weight and become a little better on defense he could be something special, and Leo seems like a pretty all around complete player.

he has taken a few good shots just havent gotten too many on net.

His stick broke on him that last time. Can’t really blame him for that. (Well, we can, but it’s poor form…)
that was a good shot by letang.

from mckenzie on twitter: Lots of spec Ponikarovsky to Pitt is done but we’re told not quite yet. Sure looks like Poni to Pitt for a prospect. (they’re saying it’s caputi.) i know it’s probably nothing, but hey.
I know I heard! Pretty exciting. Adding him could be great for the team.

if its for caputi i think its a good move.

I can’t imagine that trade one for one……you’d think the Pens would have add a draft pick or something.
espn insider is saying they will get at least a 2nd rounder for him.
by guns dont kill people pittsburgh does on Mar 2, 2010 8:54 PM EST up reply actions
Pens don’t have a second rounder. They gave it up for Leopold.
So…what will they offer?
