Game Photos - Pens vs Bruins (3-7-2010)
This was probably the most memorable scene from the Sunday afternoon game against Boston. Everyone in the building breathed a sigh of relief and cheered as Marc Savard raised his hand while being taken from the ice on a stretcher.
Chara opened things up with a huge shot from the point.
---------------------------------------
Like most of Boston's shots today, Fleury sees this one all the way....easy save.
---------------------------------------
Fleury is screened, but Staal hits the ice to deflect this Bergeron blast.
---------------------------------------
Tim Thomas shows off his own acrobatic style.
---------------------------------------
It wasn't easy for Thomas. He makes the save on Fedotenko, only to be run over by him.
---------------------------------------
Dupuis moves in, only to be stoned by Thomas. The Boston netminder would turn away all 10 Pittsburgh shots in the 1st period.
---------------------------------------
When did St Patrick's Day morph into St Patrick's month? Fans at the Igloo were getting their green on.
---------------------------------------
The Pens celebrate following Duper's game tying goal. The ref skates away as Thomas asks why there was no quick whistle on this play.
---------------------------------------
Wideman flips Kunitz to the ice following another save by Thomas.
---------------------------------------
Geno starts a new point streak and gives the Pens a 2-1 lead in the 3rd.
---------------------------------------
Tim Thomas gets back to the business of making saves and getting run over, this time by teammate Blake Wheeler.
---------------------------------------
Is the ref celebrating a 4th straight Pens victory with his own version of the Cotton Eye Joe dance?

Those are some realy nice quality pictures…What section are your seats in?
Wayne Gretzky had it wrong: 100% of the shots Gary Roberts doesn't take DO go in.
Thanks. We bounce around from game to game. For this one, we were in East Igloo 3 Row T.

Thank you. It is a Sony DSC-H20. It’s a handy little camera. In the past we used a Sony DSC-F828, but after having it confiscated on our way into game 7 in Detroit last year (for having a lens too large), we thought we should get something smaller.

gotcha. i have a nikon d80…and i’ve gotten away with using it at msg and prudential center, but i’m kind of nervous they won’t let me get away with it at the igloo.
oh! also, about your igloo club passes! sadly, i just learned my brother has a meeting open house thing until 12, so i don’t think we’d have the time to go…but i appreciate the offer SO much. it really was unbelievably kind of you.
Yeah, there isn’t time to do much before those 1pm games. I hope you have a great time. I met some other first timers to the Igloo before Saturday’s game against Dallas, a father and son who were there as part of the Make a Wish program to watch the game from Sid’s charity suite. It was so cool to see how excited this kid was to have a chance to see the Pens play in person, and they were treated to an entertaining game – 6 goals for the home team, including 2 by Sid, and a couple of fights thrown in for good measure. Hopefully your experience will be even better. I know the Canes season isn’t quite what they expected, but they have been playing better lately and the Pittsburgh-Carolina games that I’ve been to have all been very intense, with a very playoff-like atmosphere.
As far as getting your Nikon into Mellon, it’s kind of hit or miss. Sometimes they are pretty thorough about checking bags and such, and looking very closely at cameras, but other times they don’t seem to concerned about it.

yeah, which is kind of frustrating. it’s a college/law school tour (for my brother and i, respectively) so we can’t really get out of doing that stuff. =) that story is ADORABLE. aww, i’m sure he had a wonderful time. things like that just make my adoration level for sid skyrocket, haha. i hope the game is good! honestly, though, it’s just gonna be wonderful to see them on home ice before the igloo shuts down. i took my brother to his first game on december 30th (devils v. pens) and we were shut out 3-0. so our joke has been “we’ll just be happy to see someone score!”
i’m hoping i’m okay. if not, maybe i’ll just bat my lashes and say “…but i travelled 600 miles for this game!” =)

First, I love that Chara picture. Nicely done.
Second, I want that Guiness jersey.
