Let's Look at the Ex-Penguins of 2008-2009 and How Their 2009-2010 Seasons Turned Out
Of course there were some others with the team, albeit briefly, that either retired or moved their career elsewhere.
Darryl Sydor (only played 8 games with the Pens in 08-09) finished with 0 goals, 8 assists, -6, and 15 PIM in 47 GP with the St. Louis Blues.
Mike Zigomanis has spent the 09-10 season in the Sweedish Elite League.
Dany Sabourin signed with the Boston Bruins but played 0 minutes in 09-10.
Philippe Boucher retired.
Obviously some of the minor league guys who played with the team in 08-09 aren't factored into this as the focus is on the main players (Bill Thomas, Dustin Jeffrey, Chris Minard, Jeff Taffe, Tim Wallace, Luca Caputi, Paul Bissonnette, Janne Pesonen, Ben Lovejoy, Ryan Stone, Connor James)
So did we let the right guys go?

Right Moves
I would have loved to have kept “The Piece”, but not at that price. All in all the guys we lost don’t seem to have devastated the organization.
I always thought the Pens didn’t get enough for Whitney, but it turns out that he is not as good as I thought he was going to be. Didn’t he look lost in the Olympics? Kunitz and Tangredi for Whitney seems to be a fair deal where neither party got hosed but neither party came out way ahead either.

I desperately wanted to keep Scuderi, I think he would have been worth the money, especially if we’re trying to teach young players how to actually play hockey cough cough Goligoski.
And Satan I would have liked to keep as well, because he is a threat still, unlike Sykora. He still has the ability to bring it. And it couldn’t have been any worse than giving Chris Bourque a try right?
