Game 1 personnel update: Chris Kunitz IN, Tyler Kennedy OUT
From the team:
Pens winger Chris Kunitz just informed the media that he will play in Game 1 of the semifinals against the Montreal Canadiens at Mellon Arena tonight.
Head coach Dan Bylsma did confirm that winger Tyler Kennedy will not be in the lineup, and will not take pre-game warmups with the team.
Also Jordan Leopold (head) remains out, but that should come as no surprise.
It's expected that Chris Conner and not Ruslan Fedotenko will dress. Projected lines:
Kunitz-Crosby-Guerin
Talbot-Malkin-Ponikarovsky
Cooke-Staal-Dupuis
Rupp-Adams-Conner

I really thought scratching Feds was to send him a message and he’d be back, apparently i was wrong.
We’ve lost every game in the playoffs Fedotenko has played and won each game he has been scratched. Based on superstition alone, I hope we don’t dress him again.
Pirates, Vikings, Hokies. I'm used to heartbreak. At least I have the Penguins....

Might not be superstition or coincidence….Though something tells me if the Penguins go on another deep playoff run, we’ll see Fedotenko back in the lineup at some point.

I don’t think he needs to be able to fly. He is out there to create havoc in front and grind in the corner so Sid has open ice. Speed will not beat Montreal, see: Capitals, Rd 1

Agreed.
But I do like that Kunitz is (might be?) back in.

He hasn’t been out yet. Or was that a comment on his play?

Right. He hasn’t missed any actual games. But he was in that dreaded “day-to-day” position.
Truthfully, I kind of forgot that Kunitz hadn’t missed any actual game time.
Now I’m doubly happy :)

I started thinking that was what you meant after I had posted my comment.
