2009 Eastern Conference Semifinals Game 5 - Penguins vs Canadiens
I realize this is coming kind of late, and given that the Pens have been eliminated there may be little or no interest in my photos from game 5. But then it occurred to me, this was the last time the Penguins were victorious in Mellon Arena...ever. So who knows, maybe you'll check this out and remember the good times that we had this season. The Pens would win this one 2-1, taking a 3-2 lead in the series. i think most of us came out of this game feeling pretty good about our chance to move on to the conference final, but alas, it wasn't meant to be.
I encourage you to check out this post, and also the full collection of pics from game 5 on Picasa.
The Pensburgh signs entered the game with a 5-1 record, coming off a tough loss in triple overtime to the Senators in game 5. We weren't sure if they had lost all of their good mojo in that game, but figured we wanted to do everything we could to let the Pens know that their fans were behind them.
Hockey Night in Canada reporter Elliotte Friedman would be the last person photographed with the lucky sock. By my best calculations, in games where those socks were being knitted, the Pens record was 14-2-4. The socks are now done, as are the Pens' hopes of defending their title.

Orpik takes a minute to check out some of the signs around the arena.
Nice, he likes this one!

MONTREAL FANS
==================================================================
I heard there were quite a few Habs fans at this game, but I thought there were far fewer than at game 2. Anyway, they tried to make their presence felt.
WTF?
Max was not amused by any of this crap.
I've got nothing for this. Dude loves his blimp.

Tanger looked focused. I had a feeling he was going to score when I saw he had the whole "eye of the tiger" thing going.

Geno threatens to hold his breath until Shero gets him a scoring winger.
Sid wonders how long Geno can hold his breath.
It was nice of the league to assign a Gionta-sized official for this game.
Oh, hey, Tanger scored. 1-0 Pens!
Break it up, nothin' to see here.
Here, P.K.
Gonch scores. 2-0 Pens!

I regret not being at game 7 to bid farewell to Lady Mellon, but I am happy that my last memory of the old barn is a happy one.
