PensBurgh in the Mario Mosaic
We talked about it a while back here and here. The idea is to become a permanent part of the new Consol Energy Center by submitting the PensBurgh logo to the Mario Mosaic. Check out the links if you have no idea what I'm talking about Photos are being accepted up through August 31, but I know how time seems to just fly by and I don't want us to miss out on this opportunity.
More details after the jump.
There are four parts to each submission:
1. The photo - in this case, the PensBurgh logo seen above. This is a slightly modified version of the logo that appears in the upper-left corner of the web page. Submitted photos should have an aspect ratio of approximately 5 x 4, so this version has been slightly stretched horizontally. I think it looks ok, but welcome your opinions. Photos in the mosaic will be approx. 1.25" x 1", depending on the number of photos that are ultimately included (the mosaic itself will be 20' x 8').
2. The name - assuming this would be "PensBurgh", but the size of the name field can accommodate more (not sure of the max size but I submitted some photos under rather lengthy names and did not exceed the limit). So, maybe a more descriptive name, PensBurgh - An unofficial Pittsburgh Penguins blog for Pittsburgh Penguins fans? Perhaps our fearless leaders can weigh in on this.
3. The description - you get 140 characters to describe the photo. In this case, we'd be describing PensBurgh. Again, I welcome any ideas you may have for this. If all else fails, we'll have to get Hooks to write it, and we all know how dangerous that can be ;-)
4. Your favorite Mario Lemieux moment - this is where it gets really difficult. Again you get 140 characters to describe your favorite moment (or moments) in Mario's career and life in general. How would we determine what PensBurgh's favorite Mario moment would be? One idea is the poll below. This includes some ideas that I came up with, but please share any others that you may have.
Once we finalize these four elements, I will submit our entry. At that point, everything we have submitted will be reviewed and we'll know within 7 days if it has been approved. Hopefully there should be no problems. The Mosaic will be unveiled at CEC in October. You'll also be able to view it online and there should be a commemorative version for sale at some point. There will be a search feature to allow us to find our photo in the Mosaic.
The content expressed in fanposts does not necessarily reflect the opinions of the staff here at Pensburgh.com. FanPosts are opinions expressed by fans of various teams throughout the league but may be more Pittsburgh-centric for obvious reasons.

Heya PAYD… I’m in.
I have an idea about the landscape logo… if we have enough contributions, we can just buy 4 spots so we can keep it’s dimensions… if i’m to add, the penguin looks a lil chubby… sorry
I'm 21 now... I still feel 20 and I still feel way too old.
Just so I never have to answer this again. I'm from Singapore so whenever you see me online, I'm either sleep deprived or just waking up.

That’s a valid point, but if you shrink it down to the 1.25″ × 1″ dimensions, it is less noticeable that the logo has been stretched. Also, if we go the route of changing the dimensions by increasing the background image only, then the “PensBurgh” itself becomes itself becomes less prominent when viewed at the size it will be in the mosaic.
Finally, having gone through the process already, I don’t know of a way that we can buy multiple spots and use them for one image. You can certainly buy four spots and send four images, but even in that case your images will not necessarily appear together.

i had some problems with the uploading of my picture itself. But Drew Parish from the MLF was kind enough to help me out. I think we might be able to get some help. No harm asking…

Absolutely! Sounds like you’ve got the inside track.

i’ll throw the MLF an email tomorrow morning… it’s crazy late here. Plus I hope to be knocked out before my neighbours raise Cain when the the World Cup matches start… England plays today… I get no sleep all night…
and no worries on the word error… we all get that when we’re sleep deprived.

Sounds great to me.

You fools just let me know if you want to and I’ll oblige

Has someone been watching the A Team?
Not really sure but are we obliged to mention that Pensburgh is also an SBN blog? Not sure how that system works.
