Wonder what’ll happen with Poni. One of the biggest names at the trade deadline after Kovy was gone, now I’m not hearing anything on him whatsoever.

Avalanche fan stuck in Penguin territory.

by Richard R on Jul 1, 2010 11:12 AM EDT reply actions

he’ll sign somewhere far away from the Pens where there are many pretty rainbows and other little horses that he can play with…

or Edmonton. lol

I'm 21 now... I still feel 20 and I still feel way too old.

Just so I never have to answer this again. I'm from Singapore so whenever you see me online, I'm either sleep deprived or just waking up.

I’m hearing rumors of Tanguay to Calgary, but nothing solid.

by JustinM on Jul 1, 2010 12:33 PM EDT reply actions

And there it is…1 year, $1.7M.

by JustinM on Jul 1, 2010 12:36 PM EDT up reply actions

Gotta give it up to Tanguay. 30 years old, but I always thought he was already like 52

It looks like he’s trying to resurrect his career in a familiar place.

Michael Farber says not to rule out the KHL as an option for Kovalchuk. Steve Simmons thinks LA would be a good fit for Kovalchuk, but also says he is a player some team will ultimately be disappointed in.

Colby Armstrong to the Leafs for 3 years, no money details yet.

by JustinM on Jul 1, 2010 1:34 PM EDT reply actions

cross him off the list of potentials, leafs locked him up, 3yrs

by C Shint on Jul 1, 2010 1:34 PM EDT up reply actions

Nice! Good for Colby!

Canada Rocks. Except for the Ottawa Senators.

by PopRocks on Jul 1, 2010 1:39 PM EDT up reply actions

Are you okay with that as a Leafs fan?

by JustinM on Jul 1, 2010 1:39 PM EDT up reply actions

Meh. I’m a little indifferent toward Colby-the-player, and I think he’ll bring some interesting dynamics to the Leafs. He’ll definitely be under the microscope, but I think with the right linemates he could really flourish in Toronto. They overpaid, but that’s kind of their signature move. I’m excited to see how it will pan out.

Canada Rocks. Except for the Ottawa Senators.

Man, does he just not care anymore?

TOR is doing some interesting things. And Burke is a heckuva salesman …

Canada Rocks. Except for the Ottawa Senators.

by PopRocks on Jul 1, 2010 1:39 PM EDT up reply actions

that is a lot of money for a player like Army

by jevans on Jul 1, 2010 1:37 PM EDT up reply actions

Well, Colby definitely made out.

I guess the Leafs plan on giving him top-six minutes, too.

They’d better for that price. I suppose they’ll find out why Shero called him a “f***ing minor leaguer”.

by JustinM on Jul 1, 2010 1:38 PM EDT up reply actions

Hahahaha! Did he really?

Yeah, back in Shero’s first season here.

by JustinM on Jul 1, 2010 1:39 PM EDT up reply actions

He’s probably going to wear the A still there too.

there are better UFA wingers available to do that

by jevans on Jul 1, 2010 1:41 PM EDT up reply actions

Well, there’s Kessel, Versteeg, and…hmmm. Yeah, Colby’s probably going to be on the first line.

Poor Colby. (In the sense of where he’s headed. He’ll be smiling like a butcher’s dog after getting $3M a year.)

I know it’s early on, but so far Burke’s tenure in TO isn’t lining up so well yet.

by OOTer on Jul 1, 2010 1:40 PM EDT reply actions

i like it, believe it or not kessel, giguire and phanuef are all great players to have. a little overpaid on armstrong but what can you do when your a horrible team

by C Shint on Jul 1, 2010 1:42 PM EDT up reply actions

Jody Shelley, PHI, 3 years at $1.1M each.

Yay?

by JustinM on Jul 1, 2010 2:18 PM EDT reply actions

Interesting that the team whose fans call our guy Cindy just signed a guy with two girls names.

The Pens will be back.

Ha! They’re trying to emulate our success the only ways they know how. That and they seem to think that if they just sign everyone available, they’ll be set. Especially if they overpay.

Ray Whitney to PHX, $3M over 2 years

by JustinM on Jul 1, 2010 3:14 PM EDT reply actions

Sorry, that’s $6M over 2 years. $3M per.

by JustinM on Jul 1, 2010 3:15 PM EDT up reply actions

But modified, so there are a few options available for trades. (according to Dreger)

Canada Rocks. Except for the Ottawa Senators.

by PopRocks on Jul 1, 2010 3:24 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah, but they’re all like that.

by JustinM on Jul 1, 2010 3:25 PM EDT up reply actions

There’s usually an unofficial list. This one sounds more like it’s written into the contract — so they wouldn’t have to get Whitney’s permission to pull the trigger on a trade with one of those teams.

I wouldn’t mind Afinogenov or Asham.

If Guerin doesn’t come back that is, but even then, Guerin can’t expect to get the same kind of minutes and money.

If Afinogenov is reasonable and doesn’t act like his play this one year justifies a massive raise, I’d definitely like the Pens to take a serious look at him.

Agreed...

I would like to see what Afinogenov could do on the wing. Hopefully he still has some speed to keep up with Crosby or Malkin.

Pirates, Vikings, Hokies. I'm used to heartbreak. At least I have the Penguins....

also with another eastern conf team.

If the price was right on Maxim, I think he would be a good fit with one of the top 2 lines.

Should be interesting to see what the Pens do for winger help for this season. Not a lot of room left. Hope they can pull something out of the hat.

by OOTer on Jul 2, 2010 12:47 AM EDT reply actions

i think this kinda means that we’re throwing Tangradi into the deep end. Or Shero’s gonna be filling up at least one of the wing spots with a trade.

Ivanans to LA, Jackman to Calgary.

The Flames are trying to TCB.
