I like what I saw of Sneep on Saturday. Good mobility, carried the puck well, looked fairly composed at the point. I found it hard to get a read on the defensive side of the game (for everyone really) since the scrimmage wasn’t at game-level physicality. He’s a rather big body, but from what I’ve read, he’s not a bruiser, so he’ll need to hone his positional game even more to be an effective NHL D-man.
I think after a few years of AHL experience he could be a player. The Pens have a very nice crop of young D-men in the pipeline: Despres, Strait, Sneep, Bortuzzo, Grant along with some of the even younger guys like Velischeck, Agostino, etc.
Don’t forget about Phil Samuelsson either…he’s certainly young but will make a good defenseman in the future

Reckon he still has a way to go though. Isn’t he playing college hockey in Boston?

He’s still in the system, I know that. Maybe he’s eligible for Wheeling or something. I dunno.

I heard a couple of months ago that he was going to the KHL next season. I can’t remember the source, but I remember it being a reliable one quoting his agent.

He's playing for Metallurg Magnitogorsk this season, it's true

He’s still in the Penguins system but this is a good thing, he’ll see more playing time in a much better league than the WHL. He’s not close to NHL ready, he’s still only 20 years old and being able to develop in a place that he’s comfortable should be very helpful to him.

Thanks for that dig. Hadn’t heard he went to Russia.
