Camp Footage: Dustin Jeffrey
Dustin Jeffrey is the sort of guy I'd always rooted for in camp but at the same time feared may actually make the roster. It's not to say that Jeffrey doesn't necessarily have a place on Pittsburgh's lines, but if an opportunity does exist it certainly won't be anything above the third or fourth lines. Is he physical enough for Line 4? Can he flow in the absence of Staal/Kennedy/Cooke, should one of them miss a few games to injury?
For those familiar with watching and following WBS, perhaps you can weigh in a bit here.

Jeffrey’s a great scorer at the AHL level, but does he have the skill to produce in, say, a second line role this season in the NHL? Might be a little too much to ask.
Overall though, he’s very polished and has a lot of pro experience for still being a young player, including two stints on the NHL playoff practice squad. He may not have that many NHL games under his belt, but he’s been around a lot.
I think he’ll have a good shot to make the team. If the Pens do bump Jordan Staal up to the 2nd line, Jeffrey can play center and left wing and could perhaps slot in with Kennedy and Cooke. That line’s obviously not the same without big Jordan in the middle, but I think it could still be successful.
We’ll see. Jeffrey will have every chance in camp to make the lineup, but he’s going to have to outperform guys like Tangradi, Johnson and Letestu if he wants to stay in the NHL coming out of camp.
"Game's the same. Just got more fierce."

Exactly what I was thinking… Jeffrey had a great season in WBS and yet it seems all three of Letestu, Tangradi and Johnson “overtook” him on the Penguins depth chart.
And that was what… his 4th development camp? Don’t know if that is a good sign.
He’ll get a shot this year (along with the other 3 young players) and it’s up to him to make the most of it… but my bet is that Letestu and Tangradi will be the two players who’ll stick in Pittsburgh
You have to see it for yourself...
