CONSOL ENERGY CENTER OPEN HOUSE PHOTOS
Little Iceburgh got a chance to visit the new arena today. Check out the photos on Picasa..
Probably nothing you haven't already seen before, but what really caught my eye at the new place was all the amazing artwork throughout the arena, photographic and otherwise. If you happen to find yourself in Suite 48, just outside is one of the most amazing photos from game 7 of the 2009 final that I've ever seen.
Enjoy. Can't wait to see some hockey going on in this place.

Is that photo in the album?
Great photos, though, PAYD!

The 2nd one...

My picture of it may not capture it as well, but the detail in this photo is so incredible – from the frayed edges of Fleury’s goalie stick to the emotions on the players’ faces. I thought I had seen just about everything from game 7, but this one was new to me. We put in an inquiry to find out if it is available for purchase somewhere.

That is an amazing pic, but I’m sure it’s even better up close.
Ohh and what’s that finger pointing at? From the looks of it, it’s almost like you recognized someone….

Not pointing at anything special, just a couple of crazy Pens fans.

Chilling. Love the look on Scuds’ face!

I’ll split it with you if they are selling it… This is one hell of a picture… I’d frame it so I can see it everyday…
I’m getting goosebumps looking at it…
Is it October yet?
Just so I never have to answer this again. I'm from Singapore so whenever you see me online, I'm either sleep deprived or just waking up.
Wow, that was amazing! Thanks so much :)

It was my pleasure.

Man, the store looks so much bigger than the last one. This is both dangerous and convenient.

It’s so much bigger (TWSS).
Gonna be weird not bumping into people/merchandise as you shop though.

I was kinda hoping the Mellon Arena sign in front of the igloo would kinda be saved like the big concrete towers that say gate B or D ( can’t remember which) not like it takes up that much space…. but still yes CAN NOT WAIT to check out the new digs for a game…..
I don’t think the Pens have the naming rights to Mellon. Last I heard, all the stuff on the sign had been stripped off.
So when's October you ask? Well, here's your answer.
Is it wrong
That I am most excited about that long line of urinals. After life on the E balcony that literally looks heavenly.
On another note, I am glad that all of the artwork and details seem to distinguish this arena from the “cookie cutter” arenas that have sprung up.

Agreed on both counts. The bathrooms are a big step up. Details like that can’t be overlooked.

Not wrong. I was excited that I wasn’t standing in “water” and that I didn’t have to dry my hands on my pants.

Props for the photos. New stadium looks great. Makes me sort of sorry that probably the only pens game I’ll get to this year is the Winter Classic.

Thanks for sharing those pictures with us. I haven’t gotten to see CEC yet, but can’t wait! I really like the big murals of the players that are outside of the Mellon Arena. Is there anything like that in Consol Energy Center? I saw the one of Sid, which is awesome, but I wonder if there are any other players who have life size pictures on the wall.
