"The first time I asked him how he felt about playing wing, he had the perfect response," Shero said. "He said, "What does Coach think?' ... I thought it was great, because I think he wants to do what's best for the team."

Wonderful. I love his attitude, and can’t wait to see how it works out!

I hope this is true and Geno just wasn’t blowing smoke or humoring anybody. If he tries it out, that will be great. But if after a few games he doesn’t like or feel comfortable, I don’t think you can blame him for wanting or asking to go back to Center. Then maybe you try Staal at wing with Sid?

so basically Shero “visited” Malkin, to spoon with him in Russian fields/farms and beg him to move to wing without freaking out and sucking?
Every day is a great day for hockey!
No, DB visited Geno. Shero was talking about asking Geno about moving to wing sometime during the season (I can’t remember when; it’s in the article, though).
And, by the way, Game 6 of the 08 Finals is on in about 10 minutes I’m debating whether to watch it or not.
So when's October you ask? Well, here's your answer.
err....Bylsma visited...DOH
why did I say Shero…haha ughh blond moment
watched the 2008 finals – just to see Gary Roberts again, and to realize I miss Ryan Malone

I miss Mellon.
It wasn’t so hard watching it because now I know what happened just over 365 days later, but it still sucked seeing them win it and the look on all the guys faces. Malkin and Sid looked like they were going to cry, as did….Ruuts.
Oh and, by the way, just for shits and giggles, the time between the Wings’ celebration and handshakes was 2:07. =D

I don’t really know where you got spooning from? It would speak more than words to people if DB was in Europe and DIDN’T make the attempt to go see Geno in Russia. Why wouldn’t he go visit one of his players?

Right.
The Media would be all over it, probably something like this – “What’s up with Bylsma, he’s in Europe and didn’t even hope on over to Russia and catch up with Malkin. Hmm ? There must be a problem with them.”
Then the story is off and running.
Good call Alex.
Europe is a fairly big place, especially if you include Russia. That’s like Bylsma being in Texas and someone saying “why didn’t he visit Crosby in Nova Scotia?? He was so close!”
lol this.
I think his family was supposed to be in russia anyway, but even that could be a ridiculously long flight/drive depending where you are.

I just mean “spending close time with”, in a comedic twisted way. You’re supposed to chuckle…guess you didn’t get it.

Bounce Back
Gene,Gene – The Scorin’ Machine!!
That’s just perfect. I hope he has another season like he did 2 years ago. We know what we’re going to get out of Sid (obligatory Sid reference), he’s been remarkably consistent over his career. Geno on the other hand was on more of an upward trend (which can’t last forever) until last season in which he missed about 10 games and played with injuries when he was in the line-up and I’m sure that affected his production,(which btw was a point a game, still very good). But now this season is a key for him. He has to show that last season was an aberation and that he is indeed one of the top 5-players in the world. I think he’’ll bounce back and probably help Staal reach 30 goals. Rememeber when they were rookies and played together, they had some good chemitry.
Call me greedy, but I would hope Staal reaches more than 30 goals with Geno if he’s going to play with him all year. I’m not saying some crazy # like 45 or something, but more than 30 would be nice.
