Pittsburgh natives should be familiar with our Division names- SouthSide Works, Carnegie, and Mt. Washington.

I was hoping it’d be Yahoo, but I do appreciate the effort. I’ll give ESPN a try.
"Game's the same. Just got more fierce."
I wasn’t aware of any preference so I just waited a week and took the initiative. ESPN has a solid fantasy format, it just might be a different look/feel, you won’t be disappointed.

We’re just getting some people in to test the waters first. I didn’t go crazy with the league settings yet, I wanted to seek other people’s opinions first.
I agree with your acquisitions per week statement, I’m glad they added that feature this year. The reason I left it at 8 is because for the past two years in a row I’ve had times during the season where I’ve had 5-6 guys on IR or O or DTD on my roster and sometimes that results in shuffling things up. And sometimes when people make an acquisition- they drop a player and then add a player and it counts as two acquisitions (as opposed to dropping and adding all in one acquisition)- and I wouldn’t want to punish someone who didn’t quite know what he was doing when he was wasting acquisitions by doing a drop add in two steps instead of one step. So I left it at 8 to not punish new people for unefficient acquisitions and to keep injuries in check. But it could certainly be dropped to 4.
I think the limit of 32 forward starts per week is enough to keep the cycling to a minimum. If you have a good team, you don’t need to cycle :)
We can debat categories if you want :) I just put up the bare bones. I feel that PPP are better than SPG for a good reason. SPG focuses on only goals. PPP focuses on Goals and Assits. There could have been 2 or 3 amazing passes before the goal scorere taps it into the net. And STG’s only counts the goal scorere and not the passers. There are so many big playmakers who are very skilled working hard on the Powerplay who only get Powerplay assists who would be losing value if you don’t count those powerplay assists. Examples of those guys are Brad Richards, Nick Bactstrom, Joe Thornton, Paul Stastny, Mike Richards, Duncan Keith, Drew Doughty, any playmaking Defenseman out there. SHGs are like shutouts, some players do get them each year on a regular basis. I don’t mean to rant, I’m just backing up my decision making :)
+/- isn’t the greatest stat cat, but I’m not a fan of SOG, and DEF points are a little repetative and too one dimensional… Real Defenseman in the NHL do a lot more than just score points- so why focus on that? So I figured just leave +/- in for simplicity.
makes sense.
i didn’t realize that add/drop counted as 2 “acquisitions.”
what about adding one IR spot?
i hear you on debating scoring cats.
everyone has their favorite combos.
you’ve chosen a combo that credits goals and assists EQUALLY.
i like when goals count for something a little > than assists.
generally speaking, the guy that gives you 25g, 25a (50 points) is a heckuva lot more valuable than the guy that gives you 12g, 38a (50 points).
Added in 2 IR spots, I forgot… Thanks DIo! We can handle two IR spots right? Players will get injured all year long I guarantee it.
If you add/drop all in one transaction I think it counts as only 1, but I wouldn’t want to punish someone who did their transactions in parts for injury reasons or something.
Well… sometimes assists deserve more credit than their goals ;)

It’s all in good fun. We all like to play different ways, that’s why there are many leagues to play in!

Thanks! If you have preference to be in one division or the other speak up while there is still room to switch!

Diomedes7,
I set matchup game played limits by position to 32 for forwards, 16 for defenseman, and 4 for utility. That along with 5 max acquisitions per matchup. Even if someone cycles forwards, they freeze when they go over the 32 forwards limit(which is achievable by a non-cycling team anyways.
Does that seem reasonable to you? With our roster size, I think this is cycle-proof enough. But if the belt needs tightened there’s still some wiggle space.
shade, that’s a lotta math!
i wouldn’t try to put any game limits per position
i’d just limit the acquisitions per matchup
then let the owners decide how to allocate each week
This is a fantasy sport and you don’t like math?? jk!
It’s counted for you anyway… If you click on “Full Box Score” in the scoreboard it does all the math for you, and even shows you the limit to compare with. It’s been in by default every year up until this year. So if you played fantasy for any of the past few years you’ve most likely used it. It just keeps things so one team doesnt’ start 40 forwards while another team starts 25… Most teams will only reach the limit once or twice a year anyways.
Note: the “Full Box Score” link is disabled because the season hasn’t started yet.
