Reports: Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin both likely OUT for All-Star game
It looks the the concussion that’s sidelined Sidney Crosby for the last 8 games will keep him out of the 2011 All-Star game in Raleigh next weekend. Crosby has not been symptom free and hasn’t resumed working out yet, and it’s unknown when he may return.
Evgeni Malkin likewise has been bugged by a nagging left knee injury that’s kept him out of the lineup for the last two games. Malkin is not yet officially ruled out of the all-star game like Crosby is, but it’s strongly believed that will be the case soon as well.
The Penguins play one more game on Tuesday against the New York Islanders before the all-star break.

Was just watching the Flyers/Chi game and heard the reporter say that. All I could think was, Pensburgh didnt report this. You guys dopped the ball….lol
Anyway-things must be more serious with Crosby than they are letting on if he’s gonna continue to be out. The’ve obviously been underplaying this whole thing.
What’s the average life span of a concussion anyway?
I default Fan Pittsburgh teams. Yea, I wrote it!
What’s the average life span of a concussion anyway?
Don’t know how much this counts for, but I sat for two weeks after my concussion. It certainly makes sense that Crosby would be out for longer, though, given that a.) he obviously got hit a good bit harder than I did, so it was certainly worse, and b.) he’s Sidney Crosby, so there’s no reason to take any chances at all and bring him back early.
I’m still not terribly worried about it. To all appearances, the Pens and Crosby are handling this right, and he’ll be back in due time symptom-free and ready to compete. Frankly, at this point, I’m more worried about Malkin, because a knee problem could be something that keeps him out for a very long time. We’ll see, though.

Went away to Leafland for a day. It was nice, even though they lost. And I became a Certified Grabbo Lover.
I read (I think it was on that ImPACT testing website) that concussion symptoms go away within the first month for half of all concussed patients. speculation alert** given Sid’s progress, I’d bet on him being within that realm.

Why does it always seem like there's some weird law of averages that rules over sports
When one athlete becomes too dominant at his sport, an injury or something brings him back down to the pack. Blah. Get well soon, both of you

what does some writer
have to do with whether or not you are serious about something…
Your opinions typically differ from mine, so it wouldn’t surprise me if you were serious… hence why I asked.
No…I was making fun of the writer by saying that Crosby was angry and that’s why he wouldn’t go to the ASG.
Then, in the next comment, saying that that was my opinion.
It has nothing to do with me or my opinions, it was a joke. =]

Here’s the article this d*** wrote where he says that sources tell him that Sid is so angry, that he’d be skipping the ASG in protest.
Here’s the tweet he wrote after Sid said the article was really off base:
Clarification on the fuss around Crosby: It was my opinion that he was angry enough to consider skipping the all-star game.

Kind of a no brainer
Given that Sid was going to likely be out the first stretch of games vs. the Habs/Bruins twice and Detroit + Minnesota it made sense to keep him sidelined for the last place (but suddenly resurgent) Devils, Carolina and the Isles. Add to that another nearly free week provided by the AS break and we all hope sincerely that he is back in action following that. Same goes with Geno, he’s getting basically 2 weeks to rehab, so at the end of the day the AS break comes at a great time. Good thing the Olympics aren’t at stake.
Don’t be surprised if Sid misses some more time after the AS break.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all, but I’d love for him to be able to make his triumphant return on Super Bowl Sunday against the Caps. Obviously that doesn’t seem very likely, but one can dream.

So, for purely selfish reasons, I want Sid to play and be healthy. Last time the Pens came here,
was Jan 10, 2009 and they lost to the Avs…..but went on to win the Stanley Cup.
Sounds good to me. A repeat.

I’m hoping for the second game after the ASG (because if he comes back in the first game after the break, people will start questioning why he decided to skip out on it).
If not, I want him back by Feb 26th, Pens vs. Leafs :D

He has to have zero symptoms for a week, so that’d be the reason he wouldn’t play. One thing that’s certain with concussions is the strict guidelines that a player must follow before he sees game action again. In other words, if there was an injury that Sid could return from two days after the ASG and not be scrutinized for it, this would be the one because there are very clear guidelines that are widely known.
If not, I want him back by Feb 26th, Pens vs. Leafs :D

I am still in a state of shock, but am so happy! We hung out of Steelers flag on our front

gotta admit with the new ASG format, was kind of bummed not seeing sid be captain or be picked first and geno probably getting interviewed after getting picked.. cant wait for them to be healthy again!
get better sid and geno!
When he retires, all Evgeni Malkin interviews should go in a museum. - PD
Because the extra room at Mario's was already taken.
Shoot everybody.

...
I paid good money for all star tickets. I got season tickets to the Hurricanes to guarantee my seats. This is what I get? No Sid and no Gino? I thought they were pros…
I KID, I KID! I would, without a doubt, rather have them miss the All-Star game and be healthy for the playoff push. Should be a fun game to watch either way. Would have been better, but I’m a Pens Fan WAAAAYYYY before an ASG fan. I just hope they’re 100% once they do return. I am glad to see the organization taking time with it. I’ve been out of internet range for a week but it looks like the boys are doing well enough to get by with these two.
Is it playoffs yet? Trade deadline day? Oh this is going to be a good final few months. let’s do this. BRING IT!

Crosby not even going to the ASG festivities
I still kind of thought that he might go to the festivities… but he’s not.
That’s either really good news (won’t go because he’s recuperating and will start activty) or really bad news (not feeling well enough to go).
Darren dreger says that Sid might start physical activity very soon (it’s in a fanshot); he’s a pretty reliable source too.

Multiple Concussion.....
Hearing from a Penguin employee the word is that Sid has a multiple concussion. I’m not versed on this condition but seems as though he suffered a concussion on the blind side hit by Skecle [marked man] AND one on the hit from Hedman. Can someone shed light on this condition? Maybe more serious than we are all lead to believe or want to believe.
I’m sorry, but what Pens employee did you speak to?
