AHL All Star Game on FSN Pitt: Tune in Now!

Tangradi is one of three Pens in the game.

The AHL's best are in Hershey for the All Star Game.  And for those lucky enough to get FSN, it's on right now, 7 p.m. EST.  Check it out if you have nothing to watch.  WBS Penguins are well represented with Robert Bortuzzo, Eric Tangradi and John Curry taking part in tonight's game.

Figures the class-less bears fans booing the penguins players. Too bad the bears are a small 11 point gap behind WBS. Zing!

hah no problem. Just checked WBS’s schedule and they play Hershey the 3rd to last and second to last games of the season. Wouldn’t it be nice to go into Hershey April 9th and get win #61 and beat their record in their building

I love watching WB/S…is there a station in the Pittsburgh area that airs games…or do I have to find me some internet feeds.

Well, the AHL sells their feed and it’s insanely expensive. Some of the wbs games air on local tv and some blogs like http://thepensblog.com/wblog.html (Wilkes-blog) have occasional feeds.

If not, you can follow me on twitter for WBS updates on most game nights.

Where's Leafer?

Burke is doing an intermission interview with Doc Emrick at the AHL ASG

wow burke just called out crosby, anyone else see that? He said he thought the hits were unintentional and that if brown ( a leaf) had the same injury there would be no discussion. He really took a stand there. Doc set him up with that classic question: What are your thoughts on the rules about collisions/etc.?

was he trying to compare brown to crosby or something??? what a joke burke is. If he actually had a “star” player and that player got a concussion, he’d be ok with it.

by edro on Jan 31, 2011 8:17 PM EST up reply actions

I think that is a replay from the press conference before the NHL ASG, and the announcers made fun of him – he doesn’t know what the heck he is talking about.

no he was just saying the only reason the media is all over headshots is because crosby got hurt.

oh yeah

His point was that concussions are getting more attention because Sid’s injured (which is true). The stupidity comes from his attempt to take negative attention away from Kessel :P

agreed. Burke, apparently, says to Crosby almost every time he sees him…“I almost had you” He knows what Crosby brings. However, I do think he is downplaying the concussion issue. It’s serious whether it is Brown or Crosby and the fact that Crosby gets more attention for his than Brown would get is indicative of the problem I think.

John Curry now in goal

Due to Holtby’s injury, Team East will split the game in half with their two remaining goalies. So its Curry til the end.

I know they would never let a Penguin take the MVP award in Hershey but Bortuzzo is the only multiple goal scorer and is a game high plus 3. Curry has only allowed one goal and he came in midway through the second.

correction: curry has given up 2 but still 18 saves on 20 shots in an ASG is impressive

Just joined in for the 3rd period. Curry looks good. East looks good. Gordon is fun to watch.

I wish I’d been home to catch more of this game. It’s standard all-star fare, yes, but there was some actual forechecking and backchecking going on that mad the 3rd period entertaining. Plus, goaltending in that period was excellent.
