Hardest Shot?
After watching the handful of power plays in tonight's Avs game, I got to wondering which of the Penguins has the hardest/fastest slapshot. Anyone know the answer and/or how that compares to the rest of the league?

Hmm, league wide in actual game situations I’d say Chara, Weber, Ovechkin and Sheldon Souray probably have the hardest slap shots to my eye….But pretty much any NHL player can bring it with 90+ MPH shots, so they’re all hard shots.
For the Pens I’d say Dupuis, Malkin, Neal and Letang probably have the hardest shots. Michalek can bring it too. But some of those guys can have accuracy issues or it takes a while for them to pull the trigger on the windups.

I’d throw asham in the mix also.

Neal seems to favor wristshots over slapshots, and for good reason since he’s one of the very best in the league at it, so I’m not really sure how he compares. I’d say Michalek or Dupuis.
Yeah, I meant for wrist shots Neal probably has one of the best/hardest in the league, but obviously a middle of the road slapper from anyone would be better.

Not sure if I’d put Neal’s WS in the same class as Kovy, Ovie, Kessel, Spezza, Gaborik and Semin I’d say those are the elite and Neal is just one step below them.
As for the hardest shot I’d say Duper or Geno
Bonus: Worst stick-handling….MAF or Big Mac? Lol

I could buy that. Maybe I mis-typed above and should have put Neal (along with Crosby and Malkin) as the best wrist shots on the team, and not the league.

I don’t think anyone compares to Chara’s, except for Weber. What did Chara clock last year at the All-Star game? 108 or 106? Weber was one or two mph below that.
My bet from the Pens is between Asham, Dupuis, and Z.
Big Buff shot 104 at the Jets skills comp. last night in Winnipeg.
Look at Lemieux! Oh my goodness! What a goal! What a move! Lemieux, Whooa Baby!
