Eric Tangradi and Alex Picard Get the Call
Once again the Pens are forced to tap into some reserves heading into tonight's game against the Ottawa Senators. Both Eric Tangradi and Alex Picard will take the trip to Ottawa as the Pens aim to take one on the road.
Tangradi's played in two games for the Pens this season and has yet to tally a point. Picard, entering his fourth game of the season, picked up an assist on Dec. 10 against the Islanders.
Brent Johnson will get the start between the pipes tonight. Interesting stat courtesy of the Penguins' official site: BJ is 8-1-1 against the Senators in his career. I'd give him the start too.
That same article also mentions that Pittsburgh has won four of the last five meetings against Ottawa dating back to last season. Let's hope they can make it five of the last six after all is said and done tonight.
Puck drops at 7:30.

I haven’t seen anything on Letang but if I had to guess I’d say the team is gong to take it slow with his concussion. So many names are out of the league right now with head injuries – Crosby, Pronger, Giroux, both Michaleks and Letang, to name a few – that it’s so easy to assume they’ll be on the shelf for a while.

Does this mean Michalek is likely out then?

I read he may be coming back, but that was two days ago and before these call ups so I don’t know.

Well, Tangradi will have yet another chance to sow what he can do. I’m beginning to suspect that other than being the proverbial “big guy” is not very much. I don’t think he gets the message that to make it to the NHL he needs to increase his performance to another level, or maybe he can’t. If that’s the case I wouldn’t be surprised to see him packaged by Shero in a trade, like Caputi, Esposito and other “highly touted promising players” that never developed.

his performance in WBS this season seems to be much improved from last season…I saw the recap of the game against Hershey, and he was everywhere…hopefully he can translate it to the NHL level
Not according to the hockey writer from The Citizen. Continues to be irregular in his performance, and still doesn’t get the message of what he has to do to be in the NHL. Basically he has to become a dominant player at the WBS level, and train with that intensity, to have a chance of sticking to the NHL, specially when you are 27 years old like he is,.
