Around SBN: UFC 146 Predictions

Last-minute Christmas shopping, combined with much-needed alcohol at a local bar to numb the pains of dealing with humanity, resulted in me missing this game. So, for a recap of the game (with a Winnipeg angle - although one we can appreciate), check out Arctic Ice Hockey, the newest 2011 addition to SBN Hockey.

Huh

Well, good to see that read that recap from the Jets’ blog doesn’t do anything to help my opinions on jets fans. After having to listen to their home fans last night and in the first game, I do not have a high opinion on them at all.

Yeah, I am not that impressed either. The comments on that article are even more ridiculous.

Why were they booing Geno?

The same reason they boo Ovechkin or any other good player. Because he is their best player. I wonder which of the two they would’ve booed if Sid was playing.

Look at Lemieux! Oh my goodness! What a goal! What a move! Lemieux, Whooa Baby!

This pissed me off, and does even more if they do it to every team’s best player. That is just so stupid and disrespectful. You don’t boo someone if they’re just good, you boo when you hate them!

That plus chanting Fleury after he let it ONE GOAL. I hate goalie chants no matter what, and I don’t even like it when Pens fans do it, but at least when Pens fans started doing it to Miller last week, they waited until after the third goal in ten minutes. Jeez.

Yes the were chanting Fleury, even before any goals were scored. Anyhow the Flower got the last laugh. They must be really bored up there. The reason I couldn’t figured out why they were booing Geno is exactly what someone mentioned here, I could see a reason why they would hate him. After all this years waiting to see NHL games there, they boo the good players for no reason, go figure that one out.

On the “Jets on TSN” feed, they said that fans were chanting “Fler-ee!” at him in a restaurant before the game, while MAF was enjoying a pre-game meal.

I was at the game last night, wearing my Fleury jersey! I’m glad I could finally be at a Pens win!

The shots in the first were lopsided in the Pens favour, but the Jets had a lot of good chances, but seemed to miss the net a lot. Plus Flower kept us in it.

The third was definitely tilted in our favour. Our big guns took over.

Winnipeg fans in general are a fickle bunch at best. I’m not going to lie, the Jets are definitely my second team, and I’ve got a season ticket package, but I find myself shaking my head at the fans several timea a game about the way they react to calls and noncalls.

Look at Lemieux! Oh my goodness! What a goal! What a move! Lemieux, Whooa Baby!

One of the things I love about Pensburgh, the recaps don’t include cheap shots about the opposing team. I can’t help but notice how many other blogs on here insult the Pens any chance they get. Pens fans = all class.

Merry Christmas everyone!

I gotta say I much preferred that blog when it was still Behind the Net. While I can understand that it has to be a little tough to rein yourself in after not having had a team to root for in 15 years, I tire of wading through all the Jets-specific stuff to get to the stuff that made me subscribe to that blog in the first place. IMO we lost one of the best hockey stats blogs when they switched formats back to a Jets blog, and I think the community as a whole is poorer for it.

(Although perhaps I’ll start posting Fenwick charts like Bettman’s Nightmare did. That’s pretty awesome and it deserves your click.)

Hawerchuk still does some great stuff, but I admit I liked it better when it was all stats. It totally transformed how I understand hockey.
