WBS Completes Comeback Over Admirals, Back in Action Today
Six minutes into the second period and down 2-0 Saturday night, John Curry was pulled in favor of Brad Thiessen. Curry had stopped 8 of 10 shots and wasn’t playing his best but certainly not his worst. The Pens rode Thiessen for big saves and outshot the Admirals 11-5 in the third, scoring two goals in the final five minutes to force the extra session. Robert Bortuzzo blasted a point shot past Dustin Tokarski on the powerplay and Ben Street found a way to sneak the puck in the net less than two minutes later.
This game went to a shootout and it seemed like this game would never again. The Admirals matched the Penguins’ first ten shooters, scoring every round the Penguins did (2,3,5,10). The Penguins put their miraculous comeback to reality when Joey Haddad scored in the 11th round of the shootout and Thiessen denied Troy Milam....
The WBS Penguins are back in action today at 3 p.m. at home against the Springfield Falcons, who are in their fifth game in six days. You can follow the action here or you could follow the action on my Twitter page.
UPDATE(1): WBS up 2-1 after 1st period. Goals from Zach Sill and Ryan Craig. Pens out shot Falcons 18-5 after 20 minutes.
UPDATE(2) Tied at three after 2nd period. Tim Wallace added a shorthanded goal from Potter. Shots are 25-13 Pens.
UPDATE(3): Brett Sterling's second goal of the game broke a 4-4 tie with 1:11 left. PENS WIN 5-4!

Wooo they played like shit last night except the last 10 minutes of the third and overtime. I’m hoping for a better effort today. Springfield has to be tired – 5th game in 6 days

Sterling hit the crossbar, power play coming up for pens. Great quick start on a tired team. We need to jump on them like we did to Hershey last Sunday.

Being from near Winnipeg, I figured I’d head to the Manitoba Moose game when the Baby Pens are in town. I got tickets for the March 16th game, front row! Is there anything or anyone I should look for, or expect to see from the Pens in the game?
To be honest...
It’s too early to tell exactly haha, once the AHL Clear Day Rosters are due (first week of march) and I know who will be on the roster I could answer better.
Thiessen is great. Hope you see him. Ben Street is unheard of but has been great. I’m in the process of putting together a February report for the WBS pens be sure to take a peek at it to see who’s been doing what lately.

Springfield tied it at 2 midway through the second, but Tim Wallace has just given the Pens a 3-2 lead with a shorthanded goal. Then another screen in front of Thiessen and its now 3-3.
This is kind of reminding me of that weird goal scoring third period in Toronto last night. Seems like whenever they try to add to the lead it gets tied and then we go ahead by one. Very frustrating – you always want the two points.

The Ticket
Sterling just gave the WBS Pens a 4-3 lead early in the third and have drawn a penalty and are going on the power play!
