Here's a diagram of the knee so you know what people are talking about when they discuss knee injuries.

Yep
I don’t see him getting out of surgery for this one, which is awful news. That’s definitely a season-ending injury and he could easily be out into next season too. From what I know, that’s 8-9 months recovery time.

We don't devote nearly enough scientific research to finding a cure for jerks.
ESPN just threw that news up as well. I was expecting the worst based on how that looked. That’ll be horrible if it is also ab ACL too :(
PensBurgh penalty - Lavender - 2 Minutes for saying, "Woo! Offense," every time Zbynek Michalek touches the puck.
DO NOT SAY THAT
If you say something is the worst, there’s always a different thing that comes along.

For that injury, it almost always does. It would probably be the best thing too.
If he tries to play through it, he won’t be anywhere near 100% and runs a major concern of being injured again. It has to get fixed at some point, and if he somehow had the choice to wait til the season was over, he’d miss quite a bit of next year.

when do we play buffalo again…. i know it wasn’t a cheap shot, but i want some BLEEPING retrobution…
March 8
But no, I don’t want anyone headhunting Myers. Get to our game and get the 2 points. There’s nothing we could do that could take away his injury.

Targeting, headhunting, gunning for, purposely attempting to bring pain to…
Any of these things. Just stay away from it. It wasn’t Myers fault, just a fluke accident and wrong place, wrong time for Malkin.

/agreed
and this is different than the Steckel incident for anyone who wants to try and bring that into the argument.
There's a 90% chance this post is sarcasm...
Hey, last night the Pens came out trying to target Mike Weber and ended up looking bad and two goals down. In the second they just started playing their usual hard-hitting game without trying to target a single player and ended up ahead. When this team concentrates on playing hockey it’s the best team in the game, so as far as I’m concerned, the best retribution is just to beat the other team by concentrating on hockey.
Don't need no steekin' diagram
Tore my ACl back in 2000, so let’s just say I got more familiar with the inner workings of a knee joint than I ever wished to be.
I'm expecting 100% improvement from the Lions this season.
Can’t say that I know how many people realize that none of what he tore is the one on the front you can actually feel, though. :)
What always gets me is that you never hear about an LCL tear
I mean, I get it, it doesn’t have that big a role in knee stability, but still, it’s still right there, waiting to get injured. Does it just never get hurt, because of some amazing tensile strength, or maybe for having extra give to it?
I'm expecting 100% improvement from the Lions this season.
And worse, it’s right on the outside of the leg where anything can run into it. I don’t know either.
Answer:
In contrast to the medial collateral ligament, [the lateral collateral ligament] is fused with neither the capsular ligament nor the lateral meniscus.3 Because of this, the lateral collateral ligament is more flexible than its medial fellow, and the latter is therefore more susceptible to injury.
I figured it was something like that
And probably knew the answer at one point, but then again, it has been ten years (insert old man Harrumph! here)
I'm expecting 100% improvement from the Lions this season.
