April 8, 2011 vs Islanders
First off I would like to give props to the organizers, posters, and the community of Pensburgh. I read this daily and sometimes too often and I finally decided to write up something on my mind. We all know what happened during the previous "game" against the team from long island. I would like to see everyone's opinion on what will transpire this time around. It will be in New York, the 2nd to last game of the season, and as much as players say they put things behind them... I'm sure they haven't forgotten the previous game. I'm certain the Penguins will not do anything over the top that would put anyone in suspension mode for the playoffs, but I can't imagine it being a typical game. Looking forward to your opinions and I'm happy to be a part of Pensburgh.

the game is on April 8th, 2011
april 11th is the day after the last game of the season. The eyes of the league will be all over this game and i cant imagine the pens doing anything for retribution and instead saving it for next season.
Agree, that would be a big mistake. There’s always time. Hockey players remember. Just put them out of there already miserable state. Add 2 points and that’s it. Nothing that will give the opportunity to “Soupy” Campbell to come out with big suspensions, after he was accused of being soft on Chara (I forgot it was Murphy, right….).
The Hockey Dr.
The Pens will be looking to jockey for playoff seeding and hoping to garner some more momentum. Retribution will be unlikely on anyone’s mind. They can’t risk an injury (or suspension) at this time of the season. The biggest story at that time will be whether or not certain players will be or will not be dressing and getting ready to play. I suspect that we will see Eric Godard in the line-up however.
The Islanders will probably look to make a statement. What statement that is we are all still trying to figure out. Maybe they will all be too busy house hunting in Winnipeg to worry about that.
Welcome aboard, hockeypete! I think it will be a tough situation for the Pens. The Isles will be out there with nothing to lose, and no doubt they still feel wronged about one thing or the other. I can see there being a couple of fights in the game, but hopefully not much more craziness than that.

I don’t know. Not starting Gillies would be the kind of responsible move I didn’t think the Isles were capable of.
BTW, just to let you know, each comment has a “reply” button that you can use if you are responding directly to what someone else has said.

Yeah, I’d be shocked and amazed if they refused to start Gillies. On Twitter, some idiot Isles fans are trying to make a #FreeGillies hashtag happen. Um, no.

Sid comes back for that game and pulls a Rocket Richard and breaks his stick across the back of Michael Grabner and knocks him out. When the ref skates up to penalize Sid, the Kid slowly turns to him with the death stare and says “What do you want?” and the ref just says, “Welcome back.”
Damn, don’t I wish!

My guess...nothing happens.
Maybe a scrap or two, but I am sure HCDB will have his troops ready to roll and play the game. They don’t want any broken hands on a useless fight. I’m sure the big boys will be ready just in case the Islanders try to take advantage, but I don’t think this game will be any big thing. Looks like this is pretty much a common thought here though, eh?

I think
Since Lemieux has made a couple public statement regarding that type of game, the Pens will take the high road and not look for retribution. I also predict there’ll be a fight or two but it would be embarrasing to our team, our owner, our league if we were to do what NYI did the last time we played.
That's a good point...
that Lemieux has taken a personal stake in this. It’s not just the players but the whole organization that’s going to be represented in that game, Mario especially. He stuck his neck out for the guys, so I can’t see them really doing anything stupid.
The term “invasion” has come up a lot on Twitter and elsewhere, and I’m hoping it comes to pass. As in, making the Columbus Invasion, with the zamboni rides and everything, earlier this season look like a couple out-of-place black shirts. My brother’s coming down from Western PA to go to this game with us. Our Winter Classic plans didn’t work out; we’re thinking this will be much more fun.
