Pens Sign UNH Forward Paul Thompson

According to Elliote Friedman of HNIC, the Pens have signed UNH's Paul Thompson, a 6'1'' 205 lb forward.

Thompson posted 52 points in 39 games this past year (his senior season) and led the Hockey East conference in point scoring with 42 points in league play.  Additionally, he was voted Hockey East player of the year, and was second in the conference in goal scoring with 23 in 27 games.  He outscored highly touted BC prospect Cam Atkinson in conference play, and tied him in overall scoring.  Hockey East is a strong league (sending 3 teams to the NCAA tournament, including UNH).  I don't really know anything about him beyond the stats (courtesy of Hockey East's website), but he sounds like a potentially intriguing prospect.

Thompson took off last season putting up a point per game season (39 in 39) as a junior after scoring only 12 and 9 points in his first two season.
