Let's get real Pens fans...

The Penguins absolutely stink. Like every other Pens fan I wish Sid, Geno, Kuni and all the rest never got injured or were fully healed and ready to go. The fact is they aren't and Disco Dan either needs to adjust his style or pack his bags. Staal looks horrid and so do most of the other guys. Of course Versus and NHL Network show almost every game now which is never easy to watch. You can feel the OT loss is going to happen. Is it me or don't most bad teams eventually get a 3-1 victory or a good win at some point? Playing around with the puck and weak shots into defenders has to stop. Today is a new day and the Pens need to show us something. Gogo is doing well in Dallas, will Neal pick up the pace? Can anyone score? I agree that 1 point is better than none but they need to get energized and light the lamp. I live in Chicago and it will be excruciating watching them lift the cup again.

Bylsma is the only reason this team is getting any points. He’s not going anywhere, troubles against the trap or not (To his credit, he was better at it last night).
I'm sure Fleury would have something to say about Bylsma being the only reason
but I think the Bylsma play style keeps the Penguins in games when their top tier talent is out, so the general premise of the comment I agree with.
There's an 87% chance this post is sarcasm...
I guess you forgot some things:
- Chicago isn’t going to win anything this year
- The Pens just won 6-5 a couple games ago
- The team is over .500 since Sid’s injury
- Bylsma has nothing to do with this.

the fact is....
..that mpag’s post was entirely based on opinion. Not one fact was stated except the obvious injury references.

You lose all credibility when you make stupid statements like this. Can you point to any stats that indicate Dan Bylsma is a bad coach (i’ll answer it for you: NO).

oooh, somebody’s frustrated…
Have some faith mpag, I know it’s hard, we are all wanting a good solid win but take a page out of HCDB’s book and stay POSITIVE. Or, is this possibly one of his coaching techniques that you think he should “adjust”. We’ve just added three new players and have injuries up the ying yang, no other Coach is gonna come in and do what Dan has for this group of guys. Back off, Byslma is the glue right now…
And, I’d be truly and utterly shocked if Chicago wins the Cup this year, or even in the next three years. IMHO :)

I Hate The Hawks
And would rather see ANY other team win the Cup this season then see them repeat.

a lot of people are hating the Hawks these days…
I rooted for them in the Finals last year because my only other option was, argh, the Flyers. So, I was glad to see them win last year but this year they are a different team and I find it hard to like them. :(

Eww that number three was sweet. But I think behind that joke is some truth, now you’ll get to see who the real pens fans are. If you can stick through the rest of the season and still come out a pens fan, then you’re a true fan. But at least this isn’t like the five or six years in the gutter we had before Crosby, Malkin, Staal, Fleury, and (arguably) Letang.
I’m not a fairweaather fan but a die-hard Pens fan. If you have ever been to the Chicago Stadium (now United Center) to watch the Pens play the Hawks wearing a Pens T-shirt, hat, etc. and you get pelted with peanuts and beer from goofy Chicago fans everytime the Pens score, you AREN’T a fairweather fan. I saw Mario, Jagr and company lift the cup in 92 in Chicago (I was 13) and my dad and I were the only Pens fans in that section and had to put up with the nutjobs but it was worth it. Why am I defending myself against fellow Pens fans? LOL. Go Pens!!

The Pens beat the Bruins...
…a team that ought to make it to the Cup finals. They did not win because of luck. They won because they took the game to what looks to be the best team in the East.
The Pens will not win the Cup this year without the help of God. So, my new attitude is this: I’ll sit back and watch players like Neal and Niskanen become Penguins, and Jeffries, Letestu, England and Lovejoy become solid NHL players. Hopefully, Tangradi and Johnson can find their way back into the league before the season ends, although their injuries might make that unlikely.
Next year, if Crosby and Malkin return to form, the Pens will be awesome.

Man, Disco Dan should win coach of the year for all the injuries that his team has endured.
Most teams would have collapsed but we could very well still win the president’s trophy.
Imagine if Vancouver lost the Sedin twins-they would be DONE!
Imagine if Tampa Bay lost Stamkos and St.Louis-HA!
If the Caps lost Ovechkin and Semin or Backstrom-see ya!
If Chicago lost Kane and Toews-pffffffff!

Yeah, I watch almost every game. Been a month since a regulation win. Can’t you have an opinion on this site? I guess not. The Pens played a great game against Boston, for sure. Maybe I should have posted in the Fanshot? My bad. Someone sent me an email which I thought was a bit much as I am a Pens fan, always have been, always will be. If you can’t have an opinion then what’s the point?

Opinions are fine, encouraged even, and negative opinions are no different. But try to at least back it up with some evidence to support your opinion. Merely stating “no regulation wins in a month” or “even crappy teams win 3-1 once in a while” does not necessarily mean the team stinks.

This is a bit of a gray area perhaps as the guidelines may vary from site to site, but my general understanding is a Fanpost is for something that has a little more meat to it. You might start off stating your opinions, but then include supporting examples, statistical data, link to a relavant article, etc.
As far as Fanshots are concerned, there are different varieties available for members to use (like, as you mentioned, those for links, video or images), including the Chat version. This might be a good choice if you’re basically just venting your frustration with the team, as seems to be the case here, and you think it merits more visibility than simply commenting in an existing recap, as Hooks suggested.
This is just the way I approach it. Others may feel differently about it.
