Evgeni Malkin

I do not have too much to say here, just that I am starting to miss Evgeni Malkin a little bit and am wondering if anybody else does.

Obviously, there is a lot of talk and spotlight on Sidney Crosby, much deserved talk and spotlight I might add. However, have we forgotten Geno?

Probably not but we just don't hear much about him.

We miss you, Geno!

I know I miss Geno!

The huge ovation the Malkin family received when they were thrown up on the kiss cam shows how much Malkin and his folks mean to the team. He can be inconsistent as a player, but there are times when he is unstoppable.

Weirdly, I think this can be a very great thing that happened for Malkin. I think in the last few years he has played as hard as he can through injuries. Now, he’s resting up, and getting that knee as healthy as can be. When he comes back, lower body strength in as good of shape as can be after rehab, hopefully he comes in fitter than ever with only a few practices until he’s back on his A game.

Hope his rehab is going well. I spent last summer rehabbing a knee injury. The first few sessions really burn you out, but things get smoother and smoother. I hope that’s the case with his process so we can get him back to 100% for next year.

Agree. Geno is beloved. If it seems like we’ve forgotten him, particularly compared to Sid, it’s because we know he is out until next year, whereas with Sid we obviously still hope for a return.

Right. I haven’t heard of any real time table for Geno yet. My first fear was that he could be out as long as Staal was for the current season to start next year. Hopefully he can do better than that, but I’m all for him getting in the best shape possible and then coming back….so he can buy toilet paper JUST FOR FUN!

I do miss Geno. But I’ve found that the pain of him being lost for the season goes away if I try not to think about him. I’ll get excited for his return come September, but not now.

Mario Lemieux is better than you.

I don’t think there is anyone who has forgotten Geno. The difference is that Sid went down in January after one of the best starts to a season statistically since Mario. And he was out with what initially reported as a ‘mild concussion’ and would be out a few weeks. From there the speculation kept gaining. And now he is practicing, and with the league’s focus on concussion and head shots, he has gone from poster boy of the league to poster boy of the league and the league’s newest big issue.

Geno, went down in February during a tough year statistically and physically. He had a ACL/MCL tear, with a clear timetable that precluded his return this season (regular or post-season). Therefore, little speculation. So he stayed out of the news. Maybe that is good for him. Expectations were high this year. And the expectations were higher when Sid went down, and he never had a chance to fulfill those expectations. Now he can be the afterthought (in terms of the media) and quietly come back and dominate again next year.

Nicely said.

I miss Geno too and I hope he doesn’t think we all forgot about him. In case he reads Pensburgh…we all miss you Geno, can’t wait to see your moves next season! :)

Definitely miss Geno

and yea he’s kind of left in the dark by most of us for the most part…. BUT, that’s totally because we know he’s out until next season… Sid on the other hand, seems as if he’ll probably be back this season(playoffs). If Geno and Sid switched places, there would be a lot of talk about how we’re all excited about him possibly coming back and being a big boost for the team once he does…

There would still ultimately be some Sid talk, but it wouldn’t be more in the ratio that is is now.

There's an 87% chance this post is sarcasm...
