NHL Salary Cap to increase by $5 Million!

The NHL has announced that the cap is going up BIG TIME, well past the expected $3M to the tune of $5M! The new cap floor will be a very high $48 Million, and the ceiling will be $64 Million. Last year of course the cap was around $59.4M.

Interesting news for the teams, I am sure. While small market teams and frugal owners are probably cringing at the news, I am sure that teams like Pittsburgh, Chicago, Boston, etc. are elated at the thought of extra wiggle room on their roster.

Hmmm, just enough to sign JJ68...lol.

What are your thoughts on what the Pens should do with this cap space burning a hole in their pocket?

(PS - Noticed a few people in the comments secton beneath the artcle asking if 'Sid will get a winger'...Guess they never heard of James Neal?  In 2012 they shall know who the Real Deal is!)
